Watched some guys that could be relevant in our next draft picks. Here's who I watched and what I saw (I'll probably do this in pieces as I have to leave soon).
Disclaimer: This was only a scrimmage, so I didn't look at stats, at all .. only the touch, footwork, speed, and athleticism (etc).
Nerlens Noel
Alex Poythress
Archie Goodwin
Kyle Wiltjer
Willie Cauley-Stein
Ryan Harrow
Julius Mays
I'll start with Kyle Wiltjer.
I was BLOWN away by how much better of an athlete and ball-handler he is this year. He had a reverse dunk that was nasty. He split defenders with the fake behind the back pass, bring it back around thing, twice. He has a beautiful hook shot with either hand. Nailed 3's (per usual) and he's grown an inch. He's a 6'10 perimeter player with incredible footwork in the post. (43% from 3 last year)
Having said that, I still see him as a defensive liability. Too slow to guard perimeter players and too weak to guard post players. Will have to see how that develops. If he can find a way to guard he's a lottery pick. Otherwise, he'll be a specialist in the NBA and likely go early to mid 2nd round.
