Dam, I miss the pace of games that we played last season. We have to wait until Friday for another game??? We get to bitch about Burks not getting enough burn until Friday? I kinda miss having games every-other-day. Oh yea, FREE Burks, Fire Ty!

So I've heard. Unfortunately, I've seen nothing from his play that would back that up. Maybe on the playground, but certainly not at an NBA level. He's totally washed up.

Foye, on the other hand, actually still plays at an NBA level and has played a lot of point guard during his career.

So the question then becomes, would you rather have a washed up player who used to be an average staying point guard several years ago? Or would you rather have a still pretty good player who can fill in at pg but was never a great pg?

I'll take the one who can at least still play at an NBA level.

Either way, the question shouldn't be between playing Burks or Foye. Tinsley is the one who shouldn't even be in the league, let alone actually getting 20 minutes on the court.

This is a dumb post.... Of course today matters, but the future matters too and playing burks last night would have been good for today and the future. We still win that game if burks plays a bunch. Dallas is very banged up on a two game back to back road trip.... last night was a win whether burks played or not so he should have gotten minutes.

How can he be labeled a chucker when he doesn't even play? I bet he has less shot attempts than everyone on the team other than evans and murphy.... but he is a chucker?

This is a funny statement.... how can he make it so they dont have a choice but to play him? Corbin is the coach so he will ALWAYS have the choice to play him or not.

Burks could score 20 pts and have 15 assists and 10 rebounds in a game and then get a dnp the next if that is what the COACH chooses

I haven't watched the video in quite soom time but i remember he makes and excellent pass to cj miles for a dunk.

shots per minute is usually a good indicator, not total shots. You must hate math.

People are forgetting about last year.... it isn't just one game that he has been beched for inferior players

Well give me the shots per minute for each player on the team and prove to me he is a chucker then.
Last nights box score shows me he played 2 minutes with zero attempts and an assist.

Burks - 6 shots per 15 minutes = .4 shots a minute
Howard - 8 shots per 23 minutes = .34 shots a minute
Miles - 8 shots per 20 minutes = .4 shots a minute
Bell - 5 shots per 23 minutes = .2 shots a minute

I wasn't the one calling him a chucker, but he has the same shots a minute stat as a certain player nicknamed Chucker ........ soooooo if the shoe fits and walks like a duck then its a Burks.
 
Those other guys got consistent minutes though and have been in the league for a LONG time.
If burks is in fact a chucker once he gets minutes then its a coaches job to try to correct that.

Also we have no idea if burks is being told to go out and be a scorer when he is placed into the game. (which is exactly what i think he should be doing since he is a scorer)

See, being a chucker is not always a bad thing.... there have to be scorers in this league. Kobe, d rose, and durant are all "chuckers" and that is what they should be.... I think that burks identity in this league will be that of a scorer so he should be shooting alot when he gets into the game.

Oh and you should have done the shots per minute thing for everyone on the jazz, not just the guys you want to use in your example.
I would be willing to bet that Kanter takes more shots per minute.
 
Oh and im sorry to all the people that are having thier parade rained on by the burks minutes bitching.

It was a great win last night and im very happy with this team.
Cant wait till friday!

I did it for guys that basically played the same position. Feel free to do the rest of the team if you'd like. CJ was known as a chucker so technically so should burks. I do think Burks should be taking mroe shots than some other people becuase he is a scorer, but like you said those other guys are veterans, generally it doesnt go over well when a rookie comes in and starts putting up shots right away.

Edit: Kanter is at .26 shots per minute FYI

I have to disagree with Salty's assessment of Tinsley. He is a better PG than Foye, because Foye is not a PG, or at least he doesn't play the position very well, and certainly not as well as Tinsley. Yes, Tinsley has lost a step or two, but he actually is quicker and in better shape than last year, and does know how to run the point.

Foye has also played pg during his career. And he wasn't out of the league for a few years when the Jazz came calling.

I only saw the two Clipper's games. However, that tandem seemed to struggle to get the ball past teh half court on several possessions. I don't think it's ready for real NBA games.
