Nassim Nicholas Taleb had a great quote today: "Now gun control may or may not work. But I doubt it will INCREASE these incidents. Which is why we should always analyse regulation in terms of upside/downside."

Clinton admin had a ban on assault rifles that ended a while ago. Pretty sure crime rate has been lower since the ban ended.

Answer the question: What kind of person uses a massacre to jump on their soap box driving a marginalized agenda?
.

Apparently this person.

"I wish to God she had had an M-4 in her office, locked up so when she heard gunfire, she pulls it out and she didn’t have to lunge heroically with nothing in her hands and takes him out and takes his head off before he can kill those precious kids,” Gohmert said.

As a teacher who practices lockdowns a few times a year, I'm curious as to how much time elapsed from when the gunman entered the building and/or fired his first shot to when he entered that classroom. How much detail as to what went on in the building has been released?

Does anyone have any documented example where an assault rifle was used as protection by a citizen and not the military/police. Not saying banning assault weapons would do anything. Just curious.

I have to say that the speech by Obama moments ago was very inspiring. I feel exactly how he does.

In the last 40 years, a legal gun owning individual has not shot down a person firing on innocents in events similar to Oregon, Aurora, and Newtown.

Mass murder on this scale cannot be committed with a knife. What better time for a call to action, based on evidence, than right now? Maybe many good Americans who supported the NRA will change their minds based on evidence, or they will please provide solid evidence that supports current policy. NRA policy should not be a form of religion, exempt from evidence.
