Video Game Thread

I finally splurged and got a PS3 here in South Korea. I had to struggle and slog for a year and a half without one, and let me tell you, it was difficult. I had a Wii, but I sploded it up due to the voltage difference right before I was about to beat Skyward Sword. I should have been using a voltage converter. In any case, I bought the Uncharted III 320GB black friday PS3 bundle from Amazon in the states (it's more expensive here even accounting for the shipping cost, and the exchange rate) and had it shipped internationally to korea. Luckily, the PS3 accepts universal voltage and you can plug it in anywhere. I re-signed up for Playstation Plus, downloaded all my cloud storage save files, and I started where I had left off.

The first game I purchased: Ni No Kuni: The Wrath of the White Witch

It's great. It seems so simple at first but the gameplay additions just never seem to end. It's crazy deep. It's like the Pokemon game I've always wished existed. I'm glad somebody took that idea to a next-step level. I'm not done with it, so I can't give a final verdict, but, so far, it's lofty. It's right up there with Demon Souls as one of my favorite games of this generation, and it's a JRPG to the core.

I still haven't gotten Dark Souls yet. I told myself it would be first on the list to get. But, I started this already. I think I'll wait for a price drop.

I would, except I don't really have time for more than one game right now. I can only play at night, after my kids go to sleep, maybe only twice or three times a week.

So I figured I should wait until either the price goes down, it becomes available as a digital download, or I get done with the huge backlog of games I already have, but haven't beat. Whichever comes first.

It's worth 60 dollars, I agree. I'm dying to play it, but I'm a pretty patient guy.

Speaking of digital downloads, Demon souls is available for like 20$ on the PSN now. For those of you with balls, and don't have this game yet, get it. It's the greatest game of this generation.

and it's not even close. im in the same boat as you. used to play 30+ hours a week. got 4 kids now, lucky if i even play at all these days.

Played through Bionic Commando on 360 a couple weeks ago. It was like $2, and completely insane. It's like a wild Spiderman type game where you swing around everywhere while snipers and flying robots try to take you down so you feel completely out of control 75% of the time. Totally awesome though. I never even heard of the game before I played it, but glad I found it.

Someone needs to play 2k13 with me.

Or Super Smash Bros.

You know, if you feel like losing.

So I pre-ordered the new SimCity game, which has turned out to be a pretty big ****ing mess in every possible way. One of the biggest messes is that it is an always online DRM game and they had no where close to enough servers (and/or they didn't understand how much server load their software was going to generate) for launch. The game is about 2 weeks old and they still haven't figured out there server issues entirely. Anyway, for the trouble they have offered a free game for people who activate their game by the 25th.

So, my question is: What game should I get? Here are the options

Plants v. Zombies gets redundant fast in my opinion. Have not played the others.

Currently I am playing Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm on PC, Walking Dead on PS3, Starcontrol 2 & 3 on my laptop (for a flavor of the old school).

Dead Space 3

On another note, since I was bitching about Fallout 3 awhile back.....RAGE is more like what I thought Fallout 3 was going to be. I'm only a couple hours in, but it has serious potential so far. Already has 2 or 3 of the best weapons in any video game I've played. Good stuff.

Playing Starcraft HoS when I have time.

I have had much more success harrassing with Helions than I have Reapers. Also a mix of Marines, Mauraders, Medivacs and Vikings seems to work very nicely.

I have yet to build a single Ghost.
