Meh, Halo 4 is the best Halo since Halo 2. Haters gonna hate.

That could be true, but it's still Halo. I just don't like the whole world of Halo. Halo 1 started me off on a sour point. You put in 10-12 hours(however long it took to beat) and really the only fun part was "The Flood" at the very end and it was over in like 5 minutes. I don't like that ratio.

I think the one thing that pulls me in to play games is the world environments. Same thing with Fallout 3. I basically loved how you played that game, how you leveled up, the story, everything, except that the world was just so damn boring. You're always like walking around for 15 minutes until some random enemy finally runs out of a rubble hut somewhere and gives you a little action or until you burrow into some abandon Subway system where there's 20 enemies that are 40 levels higher than you. After 5 or 6 hours put into that ****, you have to turn it off because you know it would take putting a solid 25-30 hours for the game to even be fun. Ramble, ramble.

I'm finally buying 2K13 for PC. I'll be on sometime around Xmas. Anybody else play that game on Steam? I've never been very good so surely there must be somebody that would enjoy steamrolling me.

i am interested in computer games but i cant play on a keyboard. i love that theyre usually cheaper too.
is there a way to use a ps3 controller or something bro?

I ordered an XBox controller with a usb. They're about 30 bucks. You can get wireless ones too but I didn't care.

Im curious of some examples of games that had world environments that you really liked alot.

I have 2k11 and loved that game so much!... then i got 2k13 and i dont like it nearly as much, but it does have burks and kanter (2k11 didn't) so it is fun to play a starting lineup of lillard, burks, hayward, favors, and kanter.

I don't think it would be much different than my favorite games/series list:

Shenmue series
Dragon Quest series
Bioshock series
Resident Evil 4
Zelda series
Final Fantasy series
Star Ocean: The Second Story
Alan Wake
GTA:SA
Metroid Prime
The Hitman games

Those all are/were fun environments/worlds to be in for me. Some were pretty linear, but still fun in the parts you were able to experience.

thx bro. i just googled it (for mac) and it says you have to buy a dongle (usb) for a xbox controller. plus, i dont have a xbox so id have to get a controller.
but it looks like you dont need anything additional with the ps3 since it uses bluetooth, and i already have a ps3! also i like the ps3 one better its the bess.
only problem i read is that more games support xbox controllers than ps3 ones :(
just fyi for anyone interested.

The only ones of those i have played are the gta, and bioshock. And they both had great environments so i trust you on the others.

Have you played any god of war games? They have pretty cool environments.

how is the online in pc? and can you play multiplayer? like if i had 2 people sitting at my laptop, could we play against each other?

lots of pc games say they are multiplayer, but i dont know if that means through online or a connection or like a console where you just need another controller and someone sitting next to u can play too

I'm currently playing Skyrim, Gears of War 3, Forza 4 and Battlefield 1943. All killer games! I'm new to the RPG style games so Skyrim is taking some getting used to. But it has blown me away. Absolutely amazing game. I cannot wait to play the Batman games and am looking forward to the new Tomb Raider and Bioshock.

Keyboard and mouse. Was a big adjustment for me too. I grew up on consoles. But once I got the hang of it I love it. Much more responsive than a controller.

I love the gears of war games..... I have a hard time with first person perspective games. For whatever reason i like to be able to see my character, which is unfortunate for me because fps games are much more common lately it seems.
I love the uncharted series too.

Fun story time (well, fun for me anyway).

So now that the Wii U is out, I had started seriously considering getting a regular Wii. My thinking was that the price should be dropping now that the next gen is out, and while I had never been able to justify the expense to myself since I already have a PS3 and an X-Box 360, I figured what the heck. It probably won't get much cheaper anytime soon, and there are a handful of games on it that I'd really like to play. And again, now that the system is at the end of its life, most of the games are quite cheap as well.

So about two weeks ago I give my brother a call. He's just as big a gaming nut as I am, but the difference is that he now has a lot more disposable income, since he's out working a real job in IT and I'm still doing my PhD-and-work-part-time thing. He not only has two giant HDTVs and two PS3s in the same room, but also an X-Box 360 elite, a Wii, a Japanese PS2 for imports, 200+ games, and I think he might have bought a Vita or a 3DS recently. I honestly don't remember. Oh, and he also has a monster PC with the best state-of-the-art graphics card that makes my poor little HP laptop weep.

In any case, since he's had the Wii for a while I wanted to get the skinny from him on anything I should know about it... Wii motion plus vs regular, any great games I didn't already know about, etc. But when I get him on the phone, the conversation doesn't go very far before he's telling me not to get it, because he's already gotten me one for Christmas.

Oh. Well then.

We're both converging on my parents' house in Sacramento for Christmas, so he had it shipped there directly from Amazon a few months ago. He even got me a few of the games I'd been really coveting to go along with it.

With the cat out of the bag, I bought four other games myself, and given how old they were, it only cost me slightly more than the price of one new game. The one extra wiimote I bought was still annoyingly expensive, but I guess you can't have everything.

So in about a week here's what I'll have to play around with:

A new Wii with two Wiimotes with nunchuks (Motion Plus) and a Wii Classic Controller Pro
Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort (came in a bundle with the system)
Xenoblade Chronicles
Monster Hunter Tri
Trauma Center
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy
The Last Story
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

The last four games listed are the ones I bought myself.

By far the games I'm most excited for are Xenoblade Chronicles and Monster Hunter Tri.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a JRPG that won Gamespot's Wii Game of the Year in 2011 despite the fact that it hadn't been released in North America at all and showed no signs of ever being released here. My brother bought it when it finally did come out as a Gamestop exclusive this April, then proceeded to log over 100 hours and said it was one of the best JRPGs he had ever played. The last two truly great JRPGs I've played were Persona 3: FES (PS2) and Tales of Vesperia (X-Box 360), both released in 2008, so I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into one that I know will be amazing after about four years of pretty forgettable JRPGs.

As for Monster Hunter Tri, I had never even heard of the series until I downloaded Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite (a special edition of Monster Hunter 2) for my PSP (the one I got for free because it was left in a rental car), and thought it was one of the most brilliant games I'd ever played. It's basically all boss fights all the time... really tough boss fights. For all that Dark Souls is esteemed for difficulty, I'm here to tell you that Monster Hunter is harder, and I love games with great combat mechanics that give me a challenge. My enthusiasm for that game led my brother to start playing Tri, and he got just as into it as I was. I'm very much looking forward to playing a Monster Hunter game on an actual TV with a real controller rather than on a tiny little handheld.

Anyway, that's my news. No doubt I'll be on here sometime after Christmas confirming that these games are just as amazing as I'm sure they will be. Meanwhile, I'll leave a Xenoblade Chronicles and a Monster Hunter Tri video here for people to enjoy. Hopefully everyone else will enjoy their Christmas presents as much as I'm going to enjoy this one.

Nice. I was thinking of doing something similar since I just borrow my little bros' Wii whenever I want to play a game on it, which basically I've only done once for Skyward Sword because I love Zelda. Haven't even bothered yet though because of my Xbox 360 backlog. Every time I go into a Gamestop though the Wii bargain bin is just taunting me with its overflowing amount of games so I figure there has to be at least 10 games in there that I'd want to play that are ultra cheap. Both of those games you posted videos of look like stuff I would want to play. I'm pretty sure I've played a Monster Hunter game before..... I think the PS2 version.

Funny you should mention that, I wasn't even aware until now that North America got a PS2 Monster Hunter game at all. But apparently we did -- the very first game, in 2004. Other than MH1 and Tri, all other NA releases of the series have been on handhelds, which really aren't my bag.

I'm almost tempted to jump on Amazon and buy MH1 just out of sheer morbid curiosity, but I'll resist the urge since I'll be playing MH3 very soon. :)

EDIT: By the way, for anyone contemplating picking up Xenoblade Chronicles, be aware that it's a Gamestop exclusive; Gamestop is the only authorized merchant. What that effectively means is that it'll be cheaper to buy from a Gamestop store or off the Gamestop website than anywhere else. If they have it available (which they very well may not at this point), it'll be $50 new or $45 used. If you buy it from Amazon or anywhere else, you'll be paying at least $65, and possibly a lot more, since they only did a small run of copies and they're getting scarce. I'd pick one up now before they get even more expensive.
