Sheridan: Spurs front-runner to land Jefferson

I guess KOC is right. Fans bashing their own players have an impact on the way the teams operate. I never guessed that other ppl could read the internets.

I love how Chris Sheridan says "former #1 overall pick Enes Kanter" totally forgetting about the real #1 overall pick from 2011, a guy named Kyrie Irving.

I actually really like it. Our depth chart this year when healthy going forward would look like:

Williams/Mills/Tinsley
Hayward/Foye/Burks
Marvin/Demarre/Burks/Jackson
Millsap/Kanter
Favors/Splitter

We have another (4) solid front court players, but are players more adaptable to less minutes IMO. Probably minutes split between Foye/Burks/Mills at the 1 with Foye and Burks getting the bulk. Then Jackson is off the books next year so no worries there and I think Splitter is more suited for a 25 minute night than Millsap would be and hopefully would be cheaper.

So I think if we have Splitter, Milsap becomes expendable and our starting bigs next year are Favors/Splitter.
Good trade for the Jazz (I'd do this without Jackson) but bad deal for Spurs who trade all that stuff for a 1 year rental of Big Al. I don't even think they have cap issues.

I don't think San Antonio is this dumb. However, they did hire Layden after seeing what he did in NY so I guess anything is possible.

Spurs front-runner to land Jefferson

I was going to post this in the trade deadline thread but felt it deserved it's own. Sheridan strongly suggests that the Spurs are the front runner, and obviously having Scott Layden in their front office makes me think this could have some legs. Chris thinks they've discussed a Captain Jack/Splitter/Mills swap for Big Al or something along those lines. What do you guys think?

Mills has one more deal beyond this year at just over $1m. I would love to have Splitter under a reasonable 3-4 year deal but he's expiring along with Jack (who I'm assuming would be bought out). Can you imagine Stephen Jackson in Salt Lake? *mind implodes*

we could always buy-out Jax but the funniest bit is this:
"So the time for the Jazz to move him is now, and the team with the biggest need for an upgrade at center is the Spurs. The inability to protect the rim was one of the prime reasons for their collapse in last year’s Western Conference finals when they had won 20 in a row and had a 2-0 lead on the Thunder, only to lose the next four."

Our luck would be that we trade Al to the Spurs and suddenly he becomes all defensive first team, and perennial allstar.

I say no. Dont do it. Pop will find a way to get Jefferson to kill us every year.

"The Jazz do not want to lose Jefferson for nothing when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer, and they have a former overall No. 3 pick, Enes Kanter, ready to step in and fill the void that would be left by Jefferson’s departure."

look, we would get screwed in a trade like this. i say we add millsap, too or burks and a future draft pick to get kawhi leonard. i know, they would not want to trade him but we could add solid pieces and get it done. i know, it's going to be very very difficult to get leonard.

future starting five:

??? (bledsoe or via draft?) / mills/ tinsley
hayward / foye
leonard / carroll
kanter / mawill / evans
favors / splitter

gettttt errrrrrrrr doneeeeeeeee!

Does anyone not realize the possibility that they could bring Jefferson off the bench?? Keep starting Diaw, and bring Jefferson in???

What would he do to opposing team's defences?? He would win sixth man of the year, guaranteed.

I don't think San Antonio is this dumb. However, they did hire Layden after seeing what he did in NY so I guess anything is possible.

No doubt. Giving up two expiring contracts (guys they probably can't/won't keep anyway) and their third-string point guard for Jefferson? Morans.
