All else being equal, who would you rather have running the Jazz: Bledsoe or Burke

Who would you rather have as the Jazz PG of the future?

That is completely moranic. It's bad when I'm beginning to wonder whether you're this dumb or just trolling.. And I wonder.

That comment was trolling, to an extent. I do think people are salivating a little bit extra due to circumstances surrounding the Jazz. I mean, we have been watching two old men play PG at a snails pace for the past month and a half. Now we might get this super athletic guard with upside? I think it's just making people a little over exuberant.

Agreed there. This time every year we want a deal done just for the sake of wanting a deal done for a shake up, but in thinking of who could be our future PG at this time I honestly see no better realistic option than Bledsoe in comparing FA and the upcoming draft.

I love vslice.
Ha thanks Numb all I really feel like I'm doing is toeing the line because I like all of Burke's characteristics but also acknowledge Bledsoe has more potential and is more proven on an NBA-level. As you all know, I'm against anything that increases the chances the Jazz re-sign Al Jefferson this offseason and IMO acquiring Bledsoe (trading Millsap) is one of those.

Also like you said Cy sometimes these guys like Burke can just flat out take off like Lillard, but they could just as easily go the Jonny Flynn route. Bledsoe certainly doesn't seem to be on track for the latter.

How is EB more of a target than AB in your mind .. *gasp*

If the Jazz were smart they would have dug their heels in this year and landed Bledsoe and Harden. This could have been an epic rebuild. Instead its a chicken bleep one. We are sitting on all sorts of assets that could have made us rich instead we will end up with two lame *** late first's to add to the core four. This year's two first's, 2 more future first rounders, Millsap and Jefferson probably would have been enough in some sort of round about way.

What would we have given up to git Harden?

Last time I checked Burke is shooting 48% from the field as the main scorer on one of the best teams in the NCAA, something even the most talented college PG's struggle to do (What is the 6'6 MCW shooting? What about the 6'4 Smart?). He is able to be that efficient because he understands where he can and can't score from the field. He will have no problem scoring at an efficient rate in the pros. Will he be able to finish at the rim against NBA defense? Maybe not, but I will bet he will find a way to score in the paint.

I'd be excited if we land Burke, and can theoretically see him becoming the better player. But Bledsoe seems to have more upside, as well as less risk since we actually know he can play in the NBA.

That's the biggest question I have on Burke - how does his game translate against NBA length & athleticism. As far as finishing at the rim, alot of diminutive NBA PG's have scored in the paint w/a mid-range game/floater and I've seen glimpses of that from Burke...maybe Burke comes off a pick&roll, gets into the lane and either shoots a 10-foot floater or looks to dish instead of go strong to the rim?
I don't like the "all things are equal" because they aren't. One is a sophmore in college and the other is a 3-year NBA pro. One will be paid on a 4-year rookie-scale contract while the other would potentially be due a big-money contract in 1 year (and is eligible to sign an extension one this summer along w/Hayward & Favors). One could likely be had for a mid-1st-round pick while the other could cost Paul Millsap long-term (which could increase the chances of Utah re-signing Jefferson *shudders*) and a pick as well.
Also, Bledsoe seems like one of those guys 'you just let go play,' rather than run alot of methodical halfcourt sets. Similar to how OKC gives Westbrook the green-light to attack when he sees fit...does Ty have it in them to give a young PG like Bledsoe the keys to the engine?
It's really a tough call because Bledsoe's the type of guy who could blow-up and make you look like an idiot for not getting him, but also the type of guy if you list all the pro's and con's you wonder if you'll actually be a better team w/him in 3 years.

Good post. No one knows for sure what will happen in 3 years. However, I think the Jazz FO have a read on whether they'll be able to re-sign Sap and if they want to. The difference is that Bledsoe appears to be ready for big minutes now and is becoming an established player in the league. I guess you have to say Bledsoe is more of a sure thing. It also means that the Jazz can use draft picks and assets to improve other areas of the team if PG isn't such a glaring need. So, being conservative, you'd probably take Bledsoe and move on to drafting BPA this year and next.

Flynn went to a terrible team in the Timberwolves when they were trying to implement with triangle offense with ****ty players. I really think Flynn was one of those players who just went to the wrong team and it entirely ****ed his career.

I don't think anyone in here who is choosing Bledsoe over Burke is really knocking him at all. I really like what he's done and he's flat out had a better collegiate performance than both MCW and Smart IMO. It's just too much of an unknown for me to prefer him over a guy like Bledsoe given what I've seen on the NBA court.

Who is AB?

I wouldn't really say I'm dogging EB in anyway. I have yet to (I think) say a negative thing about him, I'm just not crazy in love with him.

It's a hame I can't rep you twice bro.

This post is solid and it's what I wanted to say but I'm just bad at writing.

Also this must be taken into consideration, do we want to hear this from Boler:

"Burke dribbles up the floor, passes to Burks, pass back to Burke, back outside to Burks for 3..... no. rebound Burke!"
