OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

I just heard a ridiculous lost your mind trade on ESPN that would send Sap and Gordan to the Pacers for Granger??? Is there a single Jazz fan alive that would say make that trade? I can't think of one.

It's interesting that you say that, because a lot of people thought the Rudy Gay trade would open the floodgates, which clearly hasn't been the case.

Thats true but trades dont usually happen that far away from the trade deadline.

lol just watching ESPN and their "trade expert" jumped on the trade machine and said Utah should trade Millsap for Granger, but that does not work. He decided we need another throw in player to make salaries work. How about this young backup in Utah named hayward? But then decided that was too much for Utah to give up so he gave us a crappy 1st from Indiana this year. We dont need 3 crappy firsts in this years draft and we are not trading Hayward and Millsap for Granger. Now if you change Hayward for Marvin you have a deal.

Giricek hasn't played in the NBA in 5 years.

Bill Simmons on the Ryen Russillo show was asked about the Utah situation.

Says a deal that makes sense to him is a three team deal.

Boston gets Favors
Clips get Garnett
Utah gets Bledsoe.

Holy hell, is he retarded or what?

Hey, I just posted that idea in another thread.
At mellow...

Here's the link (see post #27 at 10:35). So it did happen :-)

I'm probably most excited about this trade. We'd still have a chance at re-signing Millsap (and he could still start). Leonard is a very good shooter with great range. He's what we were hoping Marvin would be. And I still maintain Williams could be a much better player once the Jazz start moving the ball. Getting rid of Jefferson is the only way to make that happen.

The two organizations have always had great respect for each other. And they have ties with Lindsey coming over from SA and Layden going to the Spurs. This deal really could have some legs. I like DeMarre Carroll, but it's not a lock the Jazz can re-sign him. Jazz would have a very solid rotation in place at all positions, except PG. Mo will certainly be back, but Burks may/may not be the answer behind him. Jazz could use their two picks and/or available cap space to get a backup PG and a 4th big.

That is awful. It would put the Jazz is a terrible position in the off season with two UFA bigs, Millsap and Jefferson. I like Bill Simmons writing at times, but that trade is downright ridiculous.

Simmons is a LAC homer though,

although Celtics are the big winner in that stupid trade.

Uhh. He's a Celtics fan first. Which is why it's no mystery that the Jazz are the ones getting shafted here.

I will say this for his idea though: at least the Jazz are getting a promising talent back for another promising talent as oppose to "JAZZ TRADE FAVORS, BURKS, JEFFERSON, AND TWO 1ST ROUNDER FRO PAUL PIERCE".

So who's The Domino of this trade deadline, realistically? What player is everyone waiting to see what happens on, or is this all pretty even-keeled between Garnett/Josh Smith/Al and it just comes down to who goes first?

Great question.

I'm wondering how our roster flexibility is factoring into these talks. We have a full roster, so how do we trade BOTH Al and Paul when most deals probably have us taking back more players? Etc.

Could you imagine? I would stop watching the Jazz the moment this took place.

The Jazz turned down a #3 pick for Favors in the last draft. Doubt they'd move him for Bledsoe.

</weaksauce>
Don't remember that. But I can see the reason why, if true. It was really the Big 2 (Davis and MKG) and everyone else. It would have been tough to give up a guy you're projecting to be a future star for a small-college PG that hadn't yet shown he could play in the NBA.

Even today, would we make the same trade: Favors for Lillard? I'm not sure you do that. It's so hard to find quality bigs unless you have high draft picks. And no big-name FA's have ever put Utah down as one of their top choices. Much easier to find a decent PG in the mid to late first round than it is to find a very good big.

I think the Jazz would be stupid to let that get in the way. If the right deal is there, then cut Raja and/or Murphy. That shouldnt hold up a deal.

Id' say by a combination of waiving incoming players and considering the buyout of Bell and the removal of players like Watson, Murphy and Evans.

I think right now its Garnett. I think the Clips really want him. If they can't do it then maybe Bledsoe is the next domino.

I don't see Josh Smith being a domino. I don't see many teams wanting to deal with that.

Maybe its Al and Paul. Its hard to tell just how much interest is in them though, and what we are looking at. Most of us want Bledsoe but I highly doubt the Jazz do.
