What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

I like Bilas but he needs to be less transparent and mention the Lance Thomas scandal at least when he's on his soapbox.

I totally agree. He's usually pretty fair, though. The UNC stuff is mind blowing. So the NCAA says the it's none of their business because it's an internal academics thing .. holy ****!

Free agency is still "the big unknown" for us I'd say. Our biggest acquisitions over the past decade have been Okur and Boozer, and with Boozer it was dubious at best with big shenanigans with the Cavs.

Yes OK with the new CBA we might be able to attract more talents, but it's not for sure yet. Indiana had HUGE cap space a few years ago and all they got was David West. Enough said.

That's why we're all pretty excited with the Bledsoe rumour. Its our chance of locking up an exciting young player who's just about to reach his peak (i.e., Harden) without having to sell "Utah" to him.

I'm not saying the Jazz will pursue FAs. I think the Jazz should stay in a position to counter punch and benefit from other teams pursuing FAs. Teams who think they can get a FA may send us a player and a sweetner to clear cap room.

I spoke with Andrew Harrison yesterday, for first time.
Speaks like a professor and is edgy at the same time.
He's not interested in scoring though he knows he can put up 30 if his team needs him to.
I asked if he's not concerned with scoring, what kind of assists is he shooting for.. He said, no goals, whatsoever, but to dominate every game and have an undefeated season.

Kid is special. Going to love watching he and his brother along with James Young sharing a backcourt next year.

I really want this kid.

This came from Chad Ford's chat today:

Yes. Poythress and Goodwin have really done damage to their draft stocks the past few weeks. Both were considered by scouts to be Top 10 picks before the season began. Poythress still clinging to the end of the lottery. Goodwin now out of it. Cauley-Stein flubbed his first game starting in place of Nerlens Noel. Scouts love the upside, but he's going to have to produce to stay in the lottery.

At this point I want WCS more than Goodwin, but less than Poythress. I know that might not make sense but that's where I'm at.

My dream draft (realistically) would be Saric, WCS and Wolters.

Interesting.. Mine's still Burke and GRIII.

Though I think Burke is only reachable if they don't make a deep run in the tournament. If we miss out on both Bledsoe and Burke I'd be gutted. Like it'll take me a decent holiday overseas to get over it.

Jazz might still get Bledsoe, but right now I think they have a decent chance at getting Burke. You are right Michigan needs an early exit out of the tournament for them to have a chance at getting him. I honestly think Smart is more of a shooting-guard combo type player like Tyreke Evans and James Harden. If I could pick who the Jazz got in the the draft realistically, I would want them to get Carter-Williams or Burke, preferably Carter-Williams, but Burke would be an awesome pick too.

Yes, no, don't like Smart - reminds me too much of Tyreke who was drafted to play the PG as well, and we all know how that turned out.

Burke has really grown on me, he seems to be able to do everything well except finishing at the rim. But if he can get that floater down, I think he'd be unstoppable.

He's #15 on DraftEx, but #8 on Ford's big board.

Let's say we get #17 and #22 for GSW and our own pick - how are we anywhere near Otto's range exactly?

17 is pretty close to 15. Warriors are alling out of the playoffs too, so it will be more like 14 and 22.
