Official Warrior Watch: Draft Pick and Playoff Positioning

I do not think moving up to 10 is worth the 14th and 17th pick. I would rather have the Jazz use one of their picks on an international player and store him over in Europe for a year or two. I would rather have young hungry talent vs washed up vets who are only going to complain when they don't get their minutes.

Anything out of the top-10 is generally a crap shoot. In some drafts, that even goes lower. If you trade both to move up, you better be pretty sure the player is going to pan out. I think a better bet would be to keep both picks. Odds are that one will turn out to be a quality player (the Snyder/Humphries disaster notwithstanding).

If forced to bet, I'd rate the likelihood of seeing both draft picks at summer league as very low. I think KOC was working on setting up deals at the deadline, just as he did with the Jefferson trade. In fact, I'm hoping they've arranged a Bledsoe trade once CP3 re-signs.

Lol that brings back bad memories. I remember thinking before the draft that the jazz would miss on all three picks, and leave a bunch of great picks scattered in-between these picks, then right after we picked the 14th-16th picks I was excited and thought we hit a home run, and we know how that turned out. Hopefully this time it's better.

In KOC's defense, I remember reading the draft grades on various sites and the Jazz got an A- on most of them. Seemed like we got a couple of great prospects and filled positions of need at the same time.

Could have been worse. we were very close to al jefferson. thank god we dodged that bullet :(

Looks like the best the Jazz can do is to drop below Portland and have the 12th worst record in the league. Everyone else is more than 8 games below the Jazz which may be out of reach. But hell...wasn't the Jazz 7 games ahead of the Lakers only a few weeks ago, so I guess anything can happen.

I'm predicting 13th and 20th for the picks. The way the Jazz are sinking, I think Dallas passes them.
Not bad picks: should be able to add solid depth to replace (hopefully!) the vets that need to go (Tinsley, Watson, Foye, Jefferson). Jazz will still need to find a couple of solid rotation players in free agency,

If Ty is still here, "rotation players" could end up being "minute hoggers".

I hope we snag someone with their pick that ends up with a better career than Barnes. Too much to ask?

I know you won't agree with this, but I think Glen Robinson III has a long shot at being better than Barnes when it's all said and done. I think physically he's already right up there with Barnes. GRIII is younger. Heart and determination I think they are just about equal. Yes GRIII needs to add more moves / skills to his game, but I think in 4 years time he could potentially surpass Barnes if he develops under a good coaching system.

He'd be a steal at around #19 if he decides to declare this year.

I'd say there's a 50/50 chance. Barnes has not impressed me. He is having about an equal rookie year to that of marvelous Marvin Williams.

Barnes is looking like a rotation player, not much more, but it's pretty early for him. I don't think he'd change the Jazz's fortunes.

Lots of good posts just above this one. GR3 is smooth.. I'd like to see him take on a bigger role.
Addie looks very intriguing.

I do think Barnes will become much better than he is. But these guys could certainly be better.

After this game the Warriors go on their last road trip. 3 games vs. Rockets, Hornets, and Spurs. I would think that is at least a 1-2 trip.
