Following potential 2013 draftees

Hi I am new.

I do not know his name has been mentioned. I missed a page or a hundred or two of this post. NBADRAFT has us taking Steven Adams from New Zealand with the Golden States pick. Any feedback on him?

Hi jazztalk good to see a new member. I checked that mock on nbadraft.net too, has us taking cj mccollum at 14 and steven adams at 21 which I think is a very good draft for us if we pull that off. (nbadraft.net doesnt have a good rep around here, understandably so.)

Personally I rate Adams he is raw but their is plenty of potential there, I think he played alright at Pitt, there offense isnt very post orientated and he didnt take many shots a game; however his main job on the offence was setting screens and picks which I think he did well; and cleaning up missed shots with and putting them back. He doesnt have much of a post up game or a consistent jump shot but he can hit it out to 12-15 feet but not consistently, He also isnt a very good FT shooter.

His biggest asset is probably his size and defensive skills; he has good timing on his blocks; and plays pretty good post defence; he is also quite athletic (his sister is Valerie Adams olympic gold medalist in shotput) and can run the floor well. He also has a high ceiling if he can reach it.

I would like Adams as well, just cos it would be good for us jazz fans here in new zealand :)

I'd love to see valerie out there as well, she could teach plenty of big men in this league the meaning of tough i'm sure of that hahaha

I like CJ a lot but my only concern is can he run an offense. The highlights showed his amazing offensive ability but I didn't see too many passes. I would still draft him simply because I think he can fill a role of instant offense off the bench and then with time perhaps develop into a passing PG.

Does he need to be a passing PG?

Put him in a lineup with Burks and Hayward, both of whom can initiate an offense. From there, we have 3 players who can initiate the offense, dribble the ball down the court, and create either for themselves or for others. That's a dangerous lineup.

I've felt this way for a while.
