What's new

Dennis Schroeder-PG Germany about to blow up!

I like Kabongo, he has a nice stroke, but I do have to say Schroeder has great looking defense and speed.

I'm thinking wE need to trade Alec and our two picks to get him. Do you guys think we should. At this point he is top 5.

Kid has off the charts quickness, lateral movement and plays great defense.

Should be a decent three point shooter, too.

Not known for a solid mid range game. Not the best finisher.

Needs to bulk up and get stronger. Way too thin.

IQ, court vision and passing ability seem average.

Late first or high second round draft pick with good potential. Could be a steal in this draft.

Still too early to get too excited about Schroeder.
Especially at #14. Need more info on him.
Not sure I take him over McCollum MCW or BPA at #14.
His quickness is against nobody guards in the videos.
Can he guard an elite NBA PG that good?
Can he get off any shots against elite NBA guards?

This. We are yet to see him guarding anyone quick. The guys he was toying with on D had loose handle and were heavier and slower. And his release is painfully slow and low. Worth a look but hardly the Jazz saviour.

Did you watch last night's game? He guarded Kasey Hill who is plenty quick and is a projected lottery pick in next year's loaded draft.

Not sure who you're talking about here, but Hill is 174 lb, no way he is heavier and/or slower.

Worth a look but hardly the Jazz saviour.

Would you have said the same thing about Tony Parker? He was hardly the Spurs' saviour neither...

You guys really need to go to the 2013 Draft thread (the last 10 pages or so) and look at all the videos and analysis to get a better picture. It'll take too much time to duplicate everything that's already there..

This was one of the video that was posted there:

Also if you can get a hold of the 2013 Nike Hoops Summit video - watch that, cos I'm pretty sure it'll change your mind on what a lot of what you've just said.

That's the best video yet.
Can he dunk? Just curious.
Still a lot of conflicting scouting reports on him .
Has a really odd jump shot.

Yes he can dunk. I saw it in the other videos.

The jump shot kinda looks like Curry coming out of College, no? Releasing the ball on the way up.

I've said this in the draft thread - if his jump shot is legit and he can hit it consistently, I'd take him with our #14 pick.

Also what's not apparent in those videos is how he orchestrate his team in the game yesterday - he was a leader out there, moving guys around, controlling the pace of the game.

So is he good enough to start for Jazz at this point?
Is he good enough to be first backup?
What should be his expectations next year?

We don't have enough info to know if he's coming over this season or next season at this stage. But I would imagine him coming off the bench for the first year and possibly starting the year after.

At the end of the day, he does have an NBA level physicality and he has been playing with grown men in Europe - so take that for what it's worth. Admittedly he is still a bit raw-ish but the Hoop Summit game shows that there is enough raw talent there for him to be successful in the NBA.

Why would he declare this year if he doesn't want to come over?
Sounds like he's trying to beat the 14 draft that may have him dropping with the incredible talent there is.
Plus Jazz need him next year desperately.

"More concerning is the body language he shows on occasion, as he seemingly loses his temper somewhat easily, and can be a bit too demonstrative around his teammates, especially considering his age. He faced harsh criticism for this from his former U18 national team, Kay Blumel: “He's not a bad kid, but sometimes his behavior towards his teammates is not how it should be," the coach told FIBA Europe.com in July of 2011.

With his grumpy attitude, he may end up being Deron2 as far as yelling at teammates and maybe throwing the ball at Hayward. Hopefully being around players that are better than him will calm that some.
