Following potential 2013 draftees

Umm, I know he talked about taking on contracts in locker flea out day and on 1280 some. It was never just one thing he said though, and I can't think of exactly where to find it. When he talks about "flexibility" this is what I think he means.

I dont have full confidence that the Jazz will have the balls to go for the Home Run.

i do.

i havent been a jazz fan for that long, the way i see it you dont trade deron williams for derrick favors and draft a player like alec burks #12 unless your a homerun hitter, ive been waiting for this summer for the jazz for years, i think we are gonna do big things

if we S+T al for a top 15pick (maybe??)
S+T paul for a pick and expiring
Trade hayward + marvin for the rights to draft Shabazz and servicable player or pick

after next season, other than whoever gets signed this summer derrick favors will be the only one waiting on a bigtime contract, and he will well deserve it by then. maintaining our flexibility into the draft next year

heres my roster presuming those trades, andselecting larkin and schroder at 14,21 and Jaiteh in the 2nd rd.

with the al pick take Gobert
with the paul pick take Tony Mitchell

that roster is this

Larkin, Schroder, Tinsley
Burks,Foye,Schroder/Shabazz
Shabazz, Burks, Mitchell, Evans
Favors,Kanter, Mitchell, Evans
Kanter, Gobert, Favors, Jaiteh

Edit : Muhammad wins RoY and sells a ****load of jerseys in this scenario too

Probably. And I took the bait. Oh well.

Still, $10 million for an actual late 1st rounder isn't hot return. Jazz might be able to do this and just take on Hump in the middle of next season if nothing better comes along?

Oh yeah, I forget that we dont actually have to be at the salary floor by the start of the season.

That makes this deal seem a little worse since we could wait til the trade deadline, but we dot want to sign Millsap or someone with hopes to trade them at the deadline for a player like K Hump and a pick because having Millsap for half the season could ruin our tank. But yeah, we can just wait and see what comes up at the trade deadline and add salary then. We wouldnt actually be giving a team an asset in this scenario though, and NJ wouldnt need to unload KHump at the deadline because he is expiring anyways.

thinking through this as I type.

I still maintain that you are on drugs. Why trade Hayward for bazz when you could just trade a pick and some money for him in a month? Then you would have Hayward and bazz. And you can't sign and trade for picks.

All I want for this year is to fill out the roster with short term contracts and spend the minimum salary and roll with the young guys.

I literally dont care who the Jazz sign or for how much as long as it is for one year and the purpose is for us to reach the salary floor.

This summer will define the franchise. Either be a treadmill team and sign "blah" guys to long term contracts, or strip the franchise down to its core players and start building around them.

We're set up so perfectly to do it that its ****ing painful to think we might miss this chance. I dont have full confidence that the Jazz will have the balls to go for the Home Run. Worried they'll play it safe and sign Millsap or someone like him to a long term contract.

I usually just ignore your posts but then I saw that a couple of people said it was a good post so I decided to read it. I agree, good post. Maybe I'll start reading your posts now.

Pretty sure you can only spend $3 million max in a transaction. And the Jazz wouldn't lose any money taking on Humphries since they will be paying roughly $50 million for the roster regardless of how little salary is contractually owed (they have $25-ish million to play with IN CAP SPACE before they spend any actual money).

They have payers they'd gladly sell for a TPE.

We're not buying any picks. Ever.

Trading for Hump isnt "paying $10 million dollars", thats money the organization has to spend anyways. Buying a pick wouldnt get us any closer to the salary floor, so it would affect the franchises bottom line more. We're in a really unique situation. Have a bunch of money to spend, but dont want to spend it on any long term contracts. Something like this trade could be perfect, but I'd shoot for a better pick.

Franklin probly knows all of this and is trolling.

Jazz don't have to blow money in offseason to get up to the minimum.

Ya, I forgot that.

You're on board with the no long term contracts, bring in ****ty players on high dollar expiring contracts and get additional assets in the process though right??

Greetings fellow JFers from Dubrovnik Croatia. I'm on a balcony overlooking the met. The internet works fantastic.
So what Schroeder info did I miss?
