Following potential 2013 draftees

Uh-oh. I think I'm starting to want specific players all of a sudden. And 3 of them in the first round (which means I'm getting my hopes up the Jazz get Dallas' pick). Gotta stop this. The players are pretty much equal.

But I'm starting to want Shroeder, Len or Gobert, and Giannis more than the others I think. Sigh.

i like your list!!!

and the only reason why im not crazy about giannis is A) hes a project B) 2 of my favorite 2nd round wing guys will clearly help the jazz more next season, Timmy Jr and James Southerland. I kinda want us to go for it next year full force, and see what happens

also C) we can pay for the 23 y/o developed, battle tested version of Giannis at a nice discount to his size/athletecism/skillset due to him being redundant coz of Anthony Davis..

sorry to beat a dead horse, but my question is this how long til you think Giannis can make a play like this in the NBA??

furthermore how many seasons will it take for Giannis to be capable of a game like this? or is he even capable/likely to grab 20 rebs at any point in time?

with kanter it was obvious the rebounding would translate, to me so was it with Aminu, cannot say the same for Giannis... but he is huge, and very very fast... like Aminu, ones the size of Derrick Favors and the other is almost as skinny as Jeremy Evans.

EDIT: in the video above he had 13 rebounds with 3:30 to go in the 1st quarter...

Allen Crabbe seems like an interesting guy to look at, a deadeye shooter something which the Jazz could use. One question, how would you all feel about drafting Shane Larkin at #14?

I don't mind taking a high upside project like Giannis because I don't want the Jazz to go full force next year. I want them to play crap next year = Corbin walks + better draft pick in '14 draft. Top 6 should get us a stud.

Hey, is Aminu 6'8" or 6'10"? DX says the former but when I googled him it said 6'10". Maybe he's grown since DX reported his measurements.

Aminu was 6'8", years ago, as someone whos watched more al farooq aminu than most of this forum times 10, i was astonished to see him play the jazz, he appears the same size as derrick favors, infact he maybe a bit bigger. it was one of the more peculiar moments i had last season watching 100's of games... for several quarters i was trying to figure out whos actually bigger these days, I concluded at worst Aminu is the same size

also Aminu can rebound and dribble the ball up the court really really fast (not saying he can initiate offense, but hes been able to do that since HS, Giannis is very fast with the ball too but id imagine not nearly as savvy

so yeah if hes a 3, Aminu is a bigger 3 than Kevin Durant

imagine the rebounding/defensive capabilities of a front line like

Aminu/Kanter/Gobert
Aminu/Favors/Gobert
Aminu/Favors/Kanter
Hayward/Aminu/Kanter
Hayward/Aminu/Favors
Hayward/Aminu/Tomic

you could even go really "small"/athletic like

Schroder/Hayward/Burks/Aminu/Kanter and tell 'em to run like hell

I like Aminu, but I don't see how he works into the Jazz line up or their future plans. Ty Corbin was bright enough to announce to the world that the Jazz are looking for a scoring wing, whicch they could need because when Al leaves and a few others do too, the Jazz could be quite enimic on the scoring end. Scoring is not Aminu's strength.

Larkin at 14 would be horrible. He might be worth the 21st pick. His upside is Nate Robinson. He just isn't worth it.

I see Aminu as a backup 4 more than as a SF. He probably costs too much to put into that role.

NO WAY.

he is physically alike Nate, and they both play with fury and can hit jumpers and jump almost 40 inches from a standstill

but Larkin is a winner and a floor general, Nate is instant offense, larkin should be much more consistent than Nate, but does not have the explosive scoring capability that nate does.. also is a much better player for the locker room

“There are two kinds of people in the world – those who walk into a room and say, 'There you are!' – and those who say, 'Here I am!' ”
- Abigail Van Buren

i believe that quote demonstrates some differences between Nates character concerns, dont discount that Larkins dad is a Hall of Fame Athlete. its safe to presume he has a great support system

plus larkins got a hot mom, wouldent mind seeing her more often

hes a 3/4 like Faried is a 3/4, they are 1 and 2 with a signifigant drop off for 3rd for rebs per 36 for qualified SF's

Now that opens some possibilites I had not considered. He's like a Marvin Williams but can rebound and can't shoot. I like the possibilities of going big or playing him at the pf for times when they play small, but my concern is that I can't recall a Jazz player who had success in that 3/4 role. The two positions are so different in the Jazz system it seems like guys struggle at one or both. Look what it did to Marvin. He was an average to mediocre player when he joined the Jazz. Now he is like a veteran minimum, just let me be on the team, kind of guy. Could Aminu succede where others failed?

FYI- Nate Robinson 6.2 apg /2.5 topg per 36

Larkin 4.6 apg /2.3 topg per 36

They are very similar players.

I read a quote from Ford saying the Mavs want someone with a lot of upside, and believe MCW and Saric have that. All we need is for Saric to stay in the draft, and I really like our chances of Schröder falling to us.

On Chad Ford's most latest Big Board he has Larkin at #18 and Schroeder at #19, here is what he had to say:

18. Shane Larkin Miami, So. 5-11, 171 lbs. PG.
14.5 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 4.6 APG
Larkin's poor measurements (5-foot-11 with a 5-11 wingspan) were offset considerably by terrific athletic numbers that ranked him as one of the best athletes the combine has ever seen. He also played well in drills and might have put himself in a position to go somewhere between 14 and 23.

19. Dennis Schroeder Germany, age 19. 6-2, 165 lbs. PG.
11.9 PPG, 3.3 APG, 40 3PT%
Schroeder didn't participate in drills because of a reported toothache. Although sources say he has a promise by a team to take him in the first round, it's unclear exactly where that is. He could go as high as the Mavs at No. 13, and I doubt he'll get past the Jazz at 21.
