Sounds like Sloan regrets taking the Portland job.
Maybe it will be Utah's version of a Riley-Speolstra situation?
Fixed.LOL.. Monson: "What does that mean, senior basketball advisor?" Sloan: "I don't know, but I'm glad Greg stopped jackpotting around and finally gave me a &*^%$# title. Now I can get paid for all the #!%^&$# work I've been doing. I ain't no %^&$#@* volunteer!"

Jerry Sloan and Tyrone Corbin will meet the media tomorrow at 10:30 am. First joint presser since Sloan resigned abruptly in February 2011.
Why do they need a joint presser? It seems like this is kind of a minor job for Jerry and they already announced it.
To reaffirm Ty's authority as head coach. Why do they need a joint presser? It seems like this is kind of a minor job for Jerry and they already announced it.
Funny, I remember Ty saying that a yearish ago he asked Sloan for help and Sloan wouldn't do it, wanting him to cut his own teeth. Sounds like Corbin decided to go over his head a bit...
We're all human. I think Sloan was deeply wounded when KOC and Greg didn't back him up when Deron rebelled. And then he likely had a "told you so" moment when KOC turned around and traded Williams right after. Probably took Jerry - and the Jazz FO - a year before all those bad feelings started to fade. In the meantime, Sloan has had a chance to kick the tires a bit and see that every team has its problems. In 2 years, he's probably gone from wanting to coach again to realizing he maybe just wants to be involved, but not deal with all the travel and bs. This is a perfect position for him. If the team succeeds, Sloan will get credit as the "guru" who has helped Ty. If the Jazz don't, we'll all call for Ty's head and call Corbin a lousy coach.Funny, I remember Ty saying that a yearish ago he asked Sloan for help and Sloan wouldn't do it, wanting him to cut his own teeth. I think he's preparing us for a 25-win season in which we'll see glimpses of brilliance from Kanter and Favors, but also games in which they disappear and make "rookie" mistakes. They won't have the consistency you expect from more seasoned players. Now had they both started last year...well, they'd be much further along. But that's an argument for one of the Ty threads.Sloan keeps talking about patience and how young Favors and Kanter hare. Sounds like he is chastising the media and fans.
