Following potential 2013 draftees

I would be thrilled to see Karasev go ahead of us at 14. Not that he won't be good, just that I don't know that he's a fit for what we're looking for.

^^^

Agreed. If he can't defend, I'd rather not touch him.

It would be great if the Cavs moved up and took Karasev at #13, because most mocks have MCW to the Mavs at #13, but since the Cavs have Irving, MCW would fall right into the Jazz laps at #14.

Nah, MCW is now projected to either go with the Kings, or Detroit... as Burke continues to fall... doubt MCW will fall past 10.

tbh, I don't think Schröder will be BPA in case Giannis is still there. Having seen only Giannis "highlight" clips and reviews on him, there is good chance I err on that one, but I think his ceiling is higher than Schröder, who I can assess pretty good imo, having seen one of his top3 individual performances live last season, a lot of other games and his team's video recaps, where you also can get an impression how he works when someone else is making a play. I estimate that Giannis if he utilizes his full potential will be worth his weight in gold playing on allstar level one day.

Hey man, welcome to the board!!

Seems like you know a thing or 2 about Schroeder - are you German? Do you watch him a lot in person? What's he like as a teammate or team leader? How mature is he? Can he "grow up"?

have we soured on the best sniper in the class

Tony Snell ?

too skinny, too old?

Ennis is a good choice at 46, great value

how do you guys compare **** stain shane to Ish Smith

really wouldent be suprised to see larkin be the pick at 14

I like Snell but I do worry about his motor. He sometimes seems to disappear or coast. Guy has a lot of talent especially offensively.

I think he's buying into team concepts long term, but right now his teamplay and playmaking ability is good as long as he carries the ball. W/o the ball he moves awful and is passive/not focused, which is shown very good in the scouting report from dx about his off the ball defense. That translate 100% to his movement off the ball on the offensive end. Having a coach like Thibs would be very good for him long term I think.
The reports about bad communication with teammates and toxic body language in form of visible amount of frustration are legit imo. Only time will tell how he develops. He has the tools to be good, but up to this point his head is at times in his way to utilize his full potential.

I think if Sloan was still the coach, I'd be much more confortable with him containing Schroeder, with his no non-sense approach.

But with Ty, I'm not so sure Schroeder won't run rings around him...

Here is a bit of footage of a Gorgui Dieng workout. He'd be a decent pick at #21.

I'm trying to figure out what I'd like in this draft, I think my preferences are:

1. Shabazz, McCollum, or MCW fall to 14.
2. Jazz trade up for someone.
3. Jazz select Schroeder at 14, BPA at 21.
4. Jazz select BPA at 14, BPA at 21.

999. Jazz select Larkin at 14.

Not the media.. but I'm hearing from a couple of friends/scouts that the amount of smokescreening this year has reached epic proportions.
According to them, there's an almost unspoken competition between teams to see who can make chicken salad out of this draft.

One told me the team he represents is waaaaay smokescreening (dumbing down) a player they want pretty badly.
He said even though it always goes on each year.. that this year it's like a sport in and of itself. I asked him which player and he wouldnt tell me. I won't share what team he represents.

Not surprised by this, it's really only an issue when the level of talent is flat across the board and there is no consensus as to who goes where.

To me, at the end of the day it comes down to how you evaluate talent. If your big board is legit, it doesn't matter who goes where, you should be able to pick BPA and still come out laughing. Moreover you'll be able to assess whether buying a pick, or trading up is worth it.

At the end of the day, you can only follow these smokescreens so far, you need to have confidence in your big board and determine your strategy based off of that.

Good post. What I was getting at, though, is a tad more sinister .. like scouts sharing info with other scouts and those going back to their respective teams with info they're calling their own... when its really someone else's misdirection.

Yes. Teams have to take things with a grain of salt.. but they are basing their big board on a lot of feedback the may be poor quality.

Yes.. in that case you need to be able to trust your scouts.. if they're getting back wrong information that could be fatal to your draft strategy and ultimately affects your franchise as a whole.

Kinda reminds me why Lindsey/KOC/Millers are so fixed on keeping Ty around.. it seems they really trust him. They seems to hold "Loyalty and trustworthiness" up higher than coaching skills, leadership skills, smarts, etc.

I too value loyalty.. though I define the word a lot differently than most.

I'll say this; it matters little that someone is loyal if they are also incapable of knowing how to distinguish be lies and truths, savvy enough to know friend and foe... see what's coming from a mile away.
