Gordon Hayward is going to be fine. He'll "eclipse" the Utah Jazz rookie record for FG%, trust me!

If Elder Hayward was not on a 1st round draft pick contract, he would be cut pure and simple.
His lateral movement test at the combine told me he was not athletic enough to play in the NBA.

Apples and oranges. Fess isn't going to score as high as Deron Williams. Different positions are scored differently. Unfortunately Hayward has to guard 2s and 3s so he needs lateral movement. We don't ask centers to guard Kobe. And, for the record I don't care about his skin color I care about speed and athleticism.
Now while I hated picking Hayward at nine instead of nineteen, he is a Jazzman and I'm trying to like him.
Ugh. What a lousy idea. Expect us to go 7-13 in the first 20 with Hayward in the starting lineup, then 18-2 over the next 20 when Sloan figures out it isn't working and decides to start AK, the far superior player.
Basketball Gods, please don't let me go through another quarter of a season hating Jerry Sloan...
*note: I like Hayward and I want him to succeed. I don't think he's going to be a bust. I just don't want him starting until he's better than the guy in front of him. Makes sense to me...

I have to agree. Being a starter doesn't mean he's going to get a ton of minutes. And with Deron, Paul, Al and either Raja or CJ, Hayward would be the 5th option. I could see him starting and going about 6 mins, then you bring in AK. Gordon gets 12 mins/per game which seems just about right. AK plays through the early 2nd/4th, gets a 3-4 min. rest and then comes back in to finish. That gives AK around 30 mins/per. You could also have Raja play short mins in the 1st and 3rd and bring in CJ at the 6 min mark when you bring in AK. Then at the quarter break, Raja comes back in, CJ moves to SF and AK slides over to PF so Millsap can get a rest.I know many in here loath David Locke and yes, he is certainly a company man but he can sometimes be very insightful and definitely gets a lot of inside info. He made a great point about Hayward today.
He said look for him to be starter once the season begins because right now the game is really too fast for him offensively so he's going to struggle to score. Says Utah wants to put him in a line-up with DWill, Sap, and Big Al so Gordon can focus on doing all of the other things without feeling the pressure to score.
Excited to see how that works out. I love the idea.
