What's new

Oui Oui Gobert!

Glad my mind didn't trick me completely and others know about it too. I personally hate the offensive goaltending ruling. Especially when it's called wrong. I remember a call against Noah which was a close one, but got ruled the wrong way and decided a game. If the ball is live after hitting the rim, it brings in emotions for fans. Frustrated ones who hoped the ball finds its way through the net after a bounce and the fans of the defensive team excited about an extra possession. And imagine Gobert cleaning the rim...Swish or go home!

Colton, I have heard a few commentators talking about the possibility. The arguement is that the NBA has the best athletes on the planet and by making the ball live it allows for more highlights of super athletic plays. I think I recall teh NBA had a commissioin or a sub-comittee study it, but it didn't make it past there yet. KOC would know the direction it is heading, he being on the rules committee.

Also it would make the game easier to call for the refs.

The talked about rule is making the ball live on the rim though, not just for offensive players. It would be unfair just to make offensive goaltending legal.

Right, equal opportunity for offense & defense. I think the only limitation is a player can't put his hand through the rim.

Jody Genessy: In English ... Rudy Gobert has to work out a buyout with his French team and must get FIBA clearance before he can join the Jazz

He seems a lot quicker and more athletic than hibbert

Yeah, pretty much everyone in the league is quicker and more athletic than Hibbret.

True.... I just saw a few comps of gobert and hibbert.

He reminds me of javale McGee from the highlight video. (although obviously cant jump THAT high... McGee is freak with his jumping ability)

I'll bet the Jazz did a little due diligence before they drafted him. It's probably just a formality.

Oh I am sure. I was just posting what actually has to be done since everyone was asking the same question over and over.

I think Biedrins might be a good comp.

Ummm... please no. The most impressive thing Biedrins has done in the past 5 years is get caught being blown a chick while smoking. The dude is a mental disaster, about 3 inches shorter, about a foot shorter on wingspan, and will be out of the league once his disaster of a contract is up.

I know that's the FIBA rule, but I haven't heard anything at all about the NBA thinking of changing their rule to match FIBA. Not going to happen.

Stern was talking about it in 2011 and they tried it in D-league with positive results. But with him gone you are right - it may not happen. Althought it would be great change for the game as offensive/defensive goaltending call is the one which is the most subjective and difficult to get it right.

Gobert and Mcgee have the Same skin tone. Thats about it.

posted from my htc one using tapaBONGO

That and they are true 7 footers. Both move well and are athletic. Both are long. Both seem to enjoy playing D and blocking shots. Both are very thin. Both struggle offensively with a lack of shooting touch. Both have good hands. Both are raw overall prospects.

So, uh, yeah, just a little more than skin tone.

Good comp, foj.

The main way you would describe Mcgee is freak athlete. Gobert is someone that moves decent for a guy his size. HUGE difference.

Stupid that I just had to type that out^
