Jazz FA rumors

Im all for playing the youth, and the "professional tanking" but something tells me it won't be as easy to think like that when we are getting stomped, and losing 8 out of 10 games all year. It won't be easy to actually root for your team to lose, or even to not be disappointed if we lose a double OT game for example. I'm sure at the end of all the games we'll all be talking about what we could have done differently to avoid the loss. Forgetting that we all wanted that to begin with.

Again, not saying I want to sign a bunch of veterans and try and make the playoffs. Just saying get ready for a rough year.

Well us old Jazz fans can take it. The Jazz sucked when they first came to SLC and I was just happy the state had a pro team. Besides, the team will play hard and win some games, so it won't be as bad as you think. Most fans want to see the young guys play and know that a real rebuild must take place in order for the Jazz to have any chance at contending down the line. Only the casual fan will be upset if the Jazz get mauled here and there. I also think you forgot the month of Feb. where the vet team was getting hammered. I would only start worrying if after three years the young guys are still getting hammered.

Foye will almost certainly be back. Despite the irrational hate, he was one of the only vet role players worth a damn. Like you said, he's inexpensive for what he does. He'll get more PT on the Jazz than most other places. And the team is in desperate need for established veteran players to support and reinforce the youth core. I'd be very surprised if he ends up elsewhere.

As long as foye comes off the bench, i don't see why anyone would object to bringing him back. We need some players to give our young guys a spell, and i think foye would be great in that role.

What if we go all young guns and we turn out really good. So good that we go to the championship. But we get beat down because we don't have enough depth.

Would you be upset that we didnt get enough help?

Thompson > Barnes

Though, for the Jazz I think I'd rather have Barnes and move Hayward to the 2.

Thompson is bad *** , but I think Barnes can be special too. Thats a nice set of wings. Add D12 to that, with steph, that's a contender.

No, we'd just blame corbin, obviously...

Great news this.

Hopefully we can use our '14 on Barnes and grab him (GSW needs to make room for Howard).

That way we won't need to 'tank' this year - we can just click retart and start contending.

I'd be on board with doing a deal for Barnes. I wouldn't mind giving next years pick, just do top 3 protected at least. Batnes would be a sweet addition.

That's so out there that I don't know how to respond.

D12 is such a clown though. Is he really that much better than a healthy Bogut?

Bogut is a nice player when he is healthy. But so is Dwight. Dwight even more so.

All this bagging on Dwight needs to stop. The media is responsible for making a scene out of his life. Hes not a bad dude. Its not as bad as th he media makes it out to be.

The Dwight who won three defensive player of the year awards, is a ****ing beast. By far the best big in the game. Ya, he can't hit free throws, and his post game isnt the greatest, but his defense and rebounding is as legit as it comes.

There is a reason GM's are falling all over themselves to sign him.

Yep. If I were Dennis Lindsey I would be all over this like a rash.

We have the following to offer them:

- We have enough cap sapce to take on one of GSW's bad contracts: Bogut's contract ($14.2m, 1 year), or Richard Jefferson ($11m, 1 year), or Biedrins ($9m, 1 year). May be we take on Jefferson & Biedrins' contracts (we can use both of them in our roster anyway).

- GSW can keep Bogut and use him as a 3rd big or as an insurance policy for if Howard gets injured.

- We have the '14 pick which should be a decent pick given that we're going young.

- Lindsey must have assisted on the Jefferson/Stephen Jackson trade between GSW / SA, so he should know their situation pretty well.

Why would we do this??

1. We grab Barnes who's a slashing attacker, athletic defender, 3 pt shooting stud of an SF who would make a great pairing with Hayward.

2. We forego "tanking" and just simply GO HARD this year to contend for the playoffs. We won't need that 'gap year'.

3. We can start filling the seats up straight away which has got to be good for the health of the franchise overall.

Agree. The bad year that prior DWill draft was not that painful considering the Jazz played good hoop, generally competitive, but still lost. The issue is whether the basketball is entertaining and there is a "chance" to win. Watching some NBA hoops is just painful due to style of play. (and many on this board would say Alfense falls into that category.)

And he's yet to be put in a position where the youth threatens him at all. We know nothing about how good of a presence he's going to be in practice and in the locker room once he starts playing the minutes he deserves (about half of what he played last year).

Half of 27 minutes is less than what foye deserves, and you probably know that. He is one of the best three point shooters in the league, but can't do much else. He should be playing less, yes, but less than 15 minutes a game is a waste for that caliber of shooter. I think he should be playing about 20 minutes per game.
