Summer League (overall)

Interesting how many Jazz fans have talked about how Burks should dominate summer league as a third year player. Reggie Jackson, who played important minutes all year long for a serious title contender, went 2-7 FGs, 4 assists and 7 TOs today. Summer league isn't as easy as we sometimes make it out to be. The pace tends to be slower, teammates are worse and guys (maybe not NBA level players, but good players who were stars in college, Europe, NBDL) are absolutely playing for their lives - especially on defense.

In Reggie Jackson, we're talking about a guy who, in the second round of the NBA playoffs, against perhaps the best defensive team in the league, put up the following numbers:

14 ppg, 50% FGs, 6 rebs, 4 asts and 2 TOs. But in summer league could only muster 4 points on 2-7 with 7 TOs. Let's keep this in mind as we brush off Burks 10 pts in 10 minutes (or get too critical if he does have a bad game or two) or before we worry too much about Burke's 1-12 performance the other night.

For Burks and for Jackson, rather than putting any stock in summer league or making it too easy in our heads, the better thing to do would be to look at Jackson against real NBA competition when got a chance when Westbrook went down or for Burks when he finally got a chance to play and in the month of February against real NBA competition put up 10 ppg on 46% FGs, 48% 3pt, 4 rebs and 3 asts in 27 mpg.

He should dominate because he has already dominated once before.

Everyone knew he could score, its his defense that is really bad. He will be a player that will get points but the guy he defends will probably get more.

no one has outscored him yet

he played against a returning nba rotational pf too

he will be a poor defender, but just play him at center

he will add a little strength and he will be fine

he trys on defense and that is enough to make him passable

I didn't want Olynyk even if he was BPA. I just didn't want a tall goofy looking mop-headed dude...

What was that stat?

KO shot 66/100 on 3-point drill the Jazz runs ever player through during their player evalation...
good enough for BEST EVER of anyone that has done that drill.

He's showing off that jumper in summer league... It's easy to see why the Jazz were targeting him to play with Favors and Kanter.

He's that stretch 4 that Evans will never be.

Our poor old friend KCP with a 1-6 3pt performance on top of the 0-8 3pt performance yesterday....

Boy oh boy, it's hard to judge who's gonna be a good shooter, isn't it???

Jeremy Lamb 4-16 FG, 1-9 from 3pt...

Oladipo 2-12 FG, 0-3 from 3pt...

These guys are making Burke's number from yesterday look acceptable.

What are Doron Lamb's stats??

He's nothing elite but he is a tremendous shooter, great mid-range.. and doesn't make mistakes.
