What's new

July 12th, Summer League Game 5: Jazz vs. Pacers *3rd place game* 10 AM ET

I've really noticed that even though Burke had more assists than Neto in this game (he played more minutes) that the offense was more fluid with Neto and Stockton out there. It just looked cleaner, like people were getting better looks, and the pace was better.

And just like that summer league comes to an end.
It was disappointing and exciting...

Gobert looks to have been a nice surprise.
Burke... Hmm.. I can't hit the panic button yet. I can't believe that he will be stuck in a shooting slump all season.
Jeremy. It looks like he could be a part of the rotation this season. I hope he can continue to work on the jumper.

All in all, I'm excited for the season to begin. It may be ugly at times, but after the past two seasons, even losing while be fun!

it's not Burke's shooting slump that alarms me, it is his pace and decision making. Shooting is one thing (although this was an atrocious slump), I'm just not convinced he has good enough court vision through the trees at the NBA level.

This is what I'm getting at. Anyone can have a Danny green performence and still be a bad player. Anyone can have a Burke performance and still be a good player. But it's the approach to the game that's what's important to take away from summer leauge/pre season games, and I didn't like what I saw from Burke in the way he ran the point guard spot.

Again, don't forget Neto has been playing with the 24 sec shot clock for the past 2 years. Burke played with the 35 sec shot clock in college. Neto is used to that quicker pace & decision making.

Burke will get used to the pace and things will start to slow down for him.

Let's keep it realistic though - every 5th shot should go in.

Lol, I'm still deciding how I should do these. With it being summer leauge where the focus is to evaluate talent, I don't think I should only include their buckets that resulted in a score. But I'll figure it out lol, depends on how lazy I am.

I don't like his form though.. it's really Rubio-esque .... not a solid shot at all. I do think he needs 1 more year in Europe and really working on that shot.

He does everything else well, but in the NBA if you can't shoot, you're Earl Watson.

This seems like a funny arguement. So neto (37.5% shooting) is more like earl watson than burke (21.4% shooting {1-19 ~5%! from 3) because he cant shoot? Should we stash Burke in Europe for a year?

I'm going by what I saw in the SL...

(if we go back to last year's numbers, Burke's numbers are far more superior).

Burke seems more talented at the moment, but Neto has a much better approach to the game and playmaking, and much better shot selection.

I think neto wasnt as hyped obviously and dosent feel as much pressure. we all know burke could make things happen in ncaa... now we need him to settle down, add some ark on his shot and start playing with a lvl head and allow his game to translate from ncaa to nba.... the first half was great for him. he was looking to pass and playing off the ball. 2nd half mo williams took over burke's body...

Raul was a better shooter (48.5% overall, 39% from 3 ---> Burke = 46% & 38%) and did so in a harder league. I'm still confused as to what you are talking about

The flying elbow will cause a flatter or flat shot. He can work all summer with surgical tubing or heavy duty rubber bands to keep the right arm strapped to his body so the right elbow can't fly.
