What's new

Trey Burke just tweeted this:

Regardless of Burke's motivation for the retweet, Clark is his new teammate. Burke shouldn't be doing anything that could create bad blood among the team --he is the PG for ****'s sake!

So far I have been really disapointed with Burke's transition to the NBA on all fronts. I hope he mans up, and soon.
Rep'd. I usually keep my *** out of these whiney posts and view them as entertainment, but first thing I thought when reading this was: Why didn't Burke tweet back at that dude sth like: Sry bro, but I prefer playing with Ian Clark over playing against him. I hope I can convince you of my talent this fall.

Ya"ll need to back off Orangello. Thats my guy.

Burke just needs to stfu, get in the gym, and work on not being the most unathletic pg in the NBA.

I wonder how Trey Burke found that tweet? Trey's handle wasn't attached and there so no "hashtag". The guy who wrote it only has 13 followers. Hmm.........

Trey likely has a saved filter for his name that tracks whenever someone Tweets his name. It's a bit narcissistic, but we're in the age of social media and he is a young kid. I am not overly concerned with this stuff honestly. In fact my only concern about Trey is his ability to finish at the rim and all he needs to do to assuage that is to develop a floater like Tony Parker.

That's creepy if he does that.

Also on instagram he put a lot of posts about "keeping his head up" and "trying to smile". Seems like he was really depressed with his performance.

Also concerns me how Jazz coaching and management keep talking about how "serious" of a person he is. Im getting worried this kid battles depression or something like that. With him being the starter he will have alot of pressure on him and he will fail a lot. I think he just needs to take a chill pill.

Yeah, I guess. I'd rather think we had fixed a problem area and could put in another piece (SF) instead of going back and re-doing PG. But if Trey comes up zeroes, our record may be bad enough to put us in that 1/2 slot. Not sure if any quality PG's will be available with the GS pick, but the Jazz could go free agent and drop Burke to backup. With a lineup of Wiggins (or Parker), Hayward, Favors and Kanter, would Utah really need a great PG? Just adequate (like the Laker-era Fisher) would do, since the offense might be running through Hayward anyway.

The Jazz have 2 picks.

Let me preface this by saying I think Burke will turn into a fine NBA player. That being said....

He is going struggle and struggle mightily this year. He can't get his shot off in the paint. He is in an offense that hasn't run a lot of pick and roll since Corbin took over. He doesn't have a player that can bail the team out with 5 secs on the shot clock. I don't know if Favors or Kanter have ever set a real NBA pick yet.

Those are all easy fixes, but they take time and experience.

The point of my post is this: Your post is dead on. Burke will struggle this year, we will suck, we will end up with Wiggins or Parker, and will sign a vet pg in the offseason. BUT that doesn't mean Burke sucks, or that he isn't the pg of the future or anything like that. It just means he is a young player on a bad team that needs TIME to adjust to the NBA game. He will be a very good starter for us in 2-3 years.

Solid

I am loving the meltdowns, the meltdowns about the meltdown and the meltdowns about that.

I have an idea. Let's give him some real experience before we try to come to any conclussions, good or bad, about him, his talent and his attitude.

If we follow your advice then what will we do for another 2 months before we get more Jazz info?

I don't know if you realize this or not but some of us can't stay away from this site.

This is getting tiring. How about everyone just concede defeat, award me the victor, and move along.

Bah, the winner of this thread is going to be the guy who creates an pretend Trey Burke alt, and comes on this thread to set **** straight. I'm just straight up disappointed that this hasn't already happened.

I have over 12k posts. I get it amigo. I just don't see the point in building up or tearing down a guy that has yet to play a single game that counts. He is an unknown. I am thrilled with the draft. Time will tell if it pans out.

What if fans have turned Burke against Utah and he'll leave us in 2020? I'm really worried about 2020.

I am not trying to build up or tear down anyone. I'm just pointing out my observations. I guess it's a tired schtik though.

Exactly, I don't recall anyone on here that didn't want Burke in the draft and yet so many jump off the wagon with a poor sl performance???!!! I wish our fans could wake up and "wait to see" on a guy before they decide to boo him at the draft or sacrifice them at the first sign of difficulty.

Hi, my name is Orangello and even prior to the draft I wanted no part of Burke.
