So Pekovic is not going to play for Montenegro due to unresolved contract talks. There goes Montenegro hopes at making some noise with Nikola ( Vucevic and Pekovic) twin towers.

I'm looking forward to seeing Lithuania's twin towers, DMO and JV. I believe they will try JV at 5 and DMO at 4 as a stretch PF at some point of the tournament. I'm expecting they will play Javtokas for better defense though, because DMO really doesn't show any signs of improvement on defense. Don't know how are Lavrinovic brothers looking but I wouldn't trust on them much because they are like 40 years old now.

Overall for now, Greece look solid and I'm expecting a return for them. Spain is the main favorite like always, their first prep game is on 13th I believe. France could make some noise because they are very athletic and they have, you know, Parker.

I didn't like much Slovenia from what I've seen. They did good so far but they seem too dependent on Dragic, that's not the best thing.(I wish Turkey had a Dragic like player though, that would make us an immediate favorite)

Serbia and Russia are vague, to me, they could be the disappointments of the tournament, especially Russia look like they are gonna be in the sucking race along with Turkey and Italy.

Finally, my underdog is Macedonia and I'm gonna be cheering for them, and I hope to see some Dario Saric with Crotia.

I think top 5 favorites will be Spain, France, Lithuania, Slovenia and Turkey. Russia is without all their stars, Serbia is young and inexperienced, Italy, well they suck lately so no change there. Not sure if any other team can make some noise here.

Greece and France look like they take it seriously. Yesterday they destroyed Germany and Croatia respectively.

Today Germany beat Croatia(73-63), Turkey beat Ukraine(72-64) and Greece beat France(79-67).

Greece will certainly make F4.

Edit: Serbia destroyed Slovenia(91-66) at the last game of the day.

I am just not sure about Greece. They play ugly defensive basketball which almost always takes them out of group stage but then they collapse when it matters.

They have done it with soccer(euro2004), why not with basketball too?

Why did Mirotic decide not to play for Spain? Spain a little undermanned up front without P Gasol, Mirotic, or Ibaka. Granted France does not have most of their big guys either. Montenegro could certainly use Mirotic.

Don't know why Mirotic won't play, honestly.

Spain will be fine though, as you said they will be undermanned and have some tough moments against big front courts, but as long as Marc Gasol is healthy, they will make it work.

Navarro's absence is more critical imo than Gasol or Ibaka, because they are literally without a SG on their roster, without him. They will try to compensate it with good PGs like Lull and Rodriguez. Plus they can always play Calderon and Rubio together for a good amount of time.

They won't be the certain favorites this tournament but if Rudy Fernandez can carry them, they can get to the Final.
