Eurobasket 2013

Amazing game between France-Spain. I'm not giving the final score in case you would like to watch the last moments of the game. This can be the final game of the championship, imo.

Wow. I love how the Spanish act so cool when down by nearly double digits in the end of the game. Not the first time they've done it.

Not sure why Rudy Fernandez didnt go for an easy bucket in that fast break at 7:25. Was he too sure eventually they will get the lead so they just need to kill some time or too scared from Batum for a possible chase down block knowing that he is very capable of doing that. Probably second one.

BTW it would be more fun to watch France games if one of Fournier or Westermann had been made the squad. Dont know why especially Fournier didnt.. weird choice. Looks like once again theyre willing to play Tony ball as much as possible.

I'm not sure that Tony will even participate as he is scheduled to undergo an MRI today after a knee injury from last night's game.

Thats shocking. There didnt seem to be anything wrong during the game, hopefully there is nothing serious.

See yourself. But I could imagine San Antonio pull him out regardless. That Eurobasket has nor importance for France's Olympic qualification, neither is it qualifier for the World Championships next summer. This might be the last productive Tim Duncan year(none can really predict when his body can't take more beating) so the Spurs won't be willing to risk anything.

So Spanoulis is back to play for Greece as his injury was found to be less serious than diagnosed before. That puts Greece back to medal contender group.

Good news for both Greece and basketball fans. There are too many absences in this championship.

The schedule of the first day of the tournament.

The times are local (GMT+2), I don't know what would be the US times. (I'm not good with time zones.)

Teodosic out for Serbia, he couldn't recovered in time. Gigli out for Italy and Turkey's SG Ömer Onan got injured yesterday in practice he is out of the tournament as well.

My F4 bets are Spain, Greece, France. The 4th team is a tough guess.

Lithuania looks like having the best chance but they suffer from the same problem Turkey have, the lack of a decent PG rotation. Serbia without Teo is still a strong candidate. Maybe Slovenia can make a push with the advantage of being host. Turkey also have chance with the very solid front court.

This tournament goes down to quarterfinals and who plays who there. There will be some mind games I bet as well , remember how Spain lost to Brasil in Olympics to avoid USA in semifinal? All in all I am just happy it is starting tomorrow, lets hope for great tournament.

wow, Turkey down by 12 to Finland in the start of 4th quarter. Georgia up on Poland by 20 in 4th, Latvia by 10 over BIH. 3 upsets about to happen on first day??? Stay tuned:)

So Turkey loses to Finland 55-61. Looking at these two stat lines makes me happy that Kanter skipped his national team - Turkoglu 25min, 2-12 FG,3-6 FT, Asik, 17 min 2/2 FG. As always Turkoglu plays hero/chucker ball and kills his team with selfish play. The sooner Turkey realizes that he hurts team more then helps the better chances they will have in the future. On the other hand their other two big name players Ilyasova and Preldzic where terrible too.
Finland attempted 31 3 pointers, for international game it must be some kind of record, lol.
And two more upsets, Georgia beats Poland 84-67 and Latvia beats Bosnia/Herzegovina 86-75. G.Britain comes back to beat Israel in OT 75-71.

Thank you Hedo for everything. I hate you.

I can't blame Ersan since he's not the type of player who can do much without a PG and a decent offensive system. Preldzic, well too much potential that never been realized and never will be. The guy is just too inconsistent with everything, defense, offense, shooting, free throws and all.

Last days I was more hopeful about Turkish NT but I'm returning to my original expectations. We can't do a **** in this tournament with this PG rotation.

Other than Turkey game, really surprising results so far as you said, AKMVP. Latvia over Bosnia, GB over Israel and Georgia over Poland all are surprising wins. Though I was expecting Georgia to upset Poland.

BTW, Kanter skipping the NT is never a good thing regardless of the Turkish teams performance.

Hedo must be desiring that veteran minimum really bad. Every experienced ball player has the maturity to pass the ball when they're cold, but he kept chucking his hardly-lifted-body-fade-aways all the time. That last position was pure parody. Turkey's down by 3. 24 seconds to go. Turkey ball. (Boy that sounds lame) They give it to Hedo. He drains 9 seconds. He hardly uses the screen. Tries a contested 2 pointer - yes TWO EFFIN POINTER - only to miss it and screw things up.

Except Kerem and Ender, the whole team sucked in this game. Major mental-block. I wish Kanter was here. He would not get mentally blocked by those guys wearing the blue jerseys. There was not one single moment of good basketball. I am not unhappy for the loss. I feel sorry for the lack of showing fundamentals by both sides. But winners usually start sucky. But we are not winners. So I don't know what the hell's gonna happen.

Couldn't tell better the last play. What a ********!

Exactly, this one might be the worst basketball game on a professional level ever. Finland was playing like total **** but still we managed to play worse!
