If Kanter doesn't start, then Corbin will likely be fired before the trade deadline.

We can only hope then. I think it's a 50/50 chance Biedrins starts over Kanter. I don't see R. Jefferson starting if Rush is healthy. Hayward isn't going back to the bench and I think they'll put Rush in there over RJ.

Did you hear

Surprised it took this long for someone to say Kanter who I believe will still be coming off the bench as well.

Did you hear kev say about Kanter 2-3 times the minutes from last year? Kanter starts, bank it.

I sure as hell hope so. Gotta remember we are working with a guy who consistently gave foye 30 minutes a night while burks got DNP'd. I'm not even saying burks is better than foye at this moment, but he has sure shown enough to not get DNP'd in favor of foye. Kanter to me just seems like the easiest out to not play so many young guys #corbinlogic

cognitive bias

dipship, I firmly believe that you (and others on this site) suffer from a cognitive bias called Bayesian Conservatism: failing to revise your belief when presented with new (in this case, overwhelming) evidence.

I firmly believe Corbin had very different marching orders last year. Millers wanted to dip into playoff revenue and thought they could tread water until they improved. Dennis has clearly changed this paradigm and convinced folks to try to restore the franchise to the level to compete deep into the playoffs.

So your opinion = evidence?

Again I want to see Kanter start and I see no logical reason why he shouldn't start, but I know from experience watching this team over the past few years that when I think something is a slam dunk think Corbin HAS to do something, he still doesn't.

I also agree with you that there could've been pressure from the front office/Millers for Corbin to do certain things so I am not completely writing him off, but I sure haven't seen a whole lot for me to put much faith in him and it gives me no confidence to state that Kanter will without a doubt start.

Okay please show me this overwhelming evidence that Kanter is starting

There are dozens of quotes from Dennis, KOC, Ty regarding the focus on developing young talent this year and time for the young players to step up and take on much bigger roles. I already mentioned Dennis mentioning in a radio interview 2-3X playing time for Kanter versus last year. Then there is logic: Why would the Jazz let 2 average bigs walk unless they were committed to youth (why replace big Al with another big?). Al Jefferson quote: "They (front office) called me on July 1 and told me they wasn't gonna go in my direction," Jefferson recalls, adding that he wasn't surprised. "I told my teammates all season, 'Utah would be a fool to bring me back, with Enes [Kanter] and Derrick [Favors]."

You realize you can develop young talent by still coming off the bench right? Also they can still play a much bigger role coming off the bench as well. None of that screams to me that Kanter will definitely be starting. Again I reiterate we have a coach who thought veteran presence was the catalyst to a victory in a game where Kanter drops 23 and 22 and the vets sucked.

Yea. I'm ready for Jazz basketball. My life has been so empty. I even stayed away from here for a little while. But after I fixed the remote

Then I got bored.

Why do you hate the rotation?

Repped hard.

I hate Bieds and Favors starting. Not a lot of offensive creation from your starting big men. That will make the game much harder for everyone else in the starting line up.

This quote or a rough version of it gets brought up a lot, guess he doesn't get credit for "coach speak" or motivation or trying to keep the locker room together or keeping the confidence of players struggling or having a rough game then?

Some quotes:

“Any time Detroit scores more than 100 points and holds the other team below 100 points, they almost always win.” - Doug Collins

"The only thing that keeps this organization from being recognized as one of the finest in baseball is wins and losses at the major league level" - Former Devil Rays General Manager Chuck Lamar

Karl Malone has a few like his 360 one and of course “I ain't gonna be no escape-goat!"

"We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees." - Jason Kidd

"I feel like I'm the best, but you're not going to get me to say that." - Jerry Rice

"We're not attempting to circumcise rules." - Bill Cowher

"What is popular is not always right; what is right is not always popular." - Albert Einstein

Guess this has gone on too long but many coaches and GM's have said including Jerry Sloan "If you start listening to the fans you'll soon be joining them"

Depends on the rival team.
I can see Biedrins as the default option at center, with Favors / Kanter sliding to PF. Against smaller teams, I guess it's Evans / Jefferson at PF, with Favors / Kanter sliding to C.
I do think that Gobert will replace Biedrins coming February or so.

Since I assume Biedrens will start with Favors. I will say Enes for Biedrens at 8:00, then at start of 2nd Quarter--Gobert for Favors, then Favors for Kanter at 8:00. Kanter for Gobert at 6 to finish the half. Jazz get to see all three critical pieces play together. (Kanter/Gobert for 4 minutes, Favors/Gobert for 2 mins.) and feature Favors/Kanter combo for 14 minutes each half.

But 18 mins/ half or 36/game may be too many minutes for Favors/Kanter. Biedrens may have to get 4 minutes more at start of 2nd qtr to keep Favors/Kanter down to 32-33 per game.

Can you estimate the average blocked shots in those two minutes Favors and Gobert share?

Who's it gunna be?

Like many voters who went for Gobert, I too want him to get the minutes to show what he's got. As for the question, Bierdrins will probably be the answer, since we know both Ty and his teacher have a history of arguably limiting the early experience of the rookies.
