What's new

Preseason #3 Clippers at Jazz Saturday Oct 12 @ 7pm

It's too early? Maybe for Kanter. Hayward, Favors are both in their fourth years. You know what they are. Hayward is an amazing third option, an okay second option. Favors is a less talented Tyson Chandler, with potential to get to Chandler.

Both are sub-10 million per year guys.

We had high hopes, it's time to be realistic.

This team will live and die with Trey Burke, as we have seen so far. When Burke plays well, we win. When he doesn't, we get blown out. If he is out for 4-6 weeks...ouch. Painful basketball to watch. We may very well get Wiggins.

Oh my heck, Burke has played 3 preseason games and we haven't won because of him.

The core 4 haven't gotten quality minutes so you can't just judge them by what they have done so far. Obviously this is the year to see what they are made of.

I think we need to bump some preseason threads from last year. Specifically for all the favors hate that was going on then as well.

can we save the sweeping generalizations about who to lose faith in until AT LEAST the regular season please?

Anyone want to mock me now for saying Lindsey is planning on building around Burke and next year's draft pick, and Favors, Kanter and Hayward aren't his main concern?

Lindsey wants a high pick. The core 4 will be here if they are bargains, but Lindsey won't think twice to move them/let them walk.

I loved the irony a few pages back. "Where's Gobert" mixed in with a bunch of Favors and Kanter shortcomings which mostly come down to them being inexperienced.

I am excited for 2016 to see if Gobert can play.

In the next 3 Years Tyrone Corbin will never give more than 15 Minutes playing time in ONE GAME to Gobeaaar... I just think that most of the people around here have no cloud about basketball. This guy is not NBA ready jet and has lots of work to do. He has to earn his minutes, with his patient and work ethic outside. If Gobeaar does not have that, than he is not the right player and we are not the right team for him.

1-2 bad PREASEASON games and it is like everyone lost faith on the Core4... You bitched against BIG-AL for about 2 Years in every game, just to lose your faith in that gruop in a few preaseason games ? Sorry dudes, but for me that is retardet...

This gruop will have 82 games to show us, what their upside is... And we have to be patient with these kids and see them growing together. They will make mistakes, but I think that theor upside is like unlimited now. The only question is, can they reach it on Utah Jazz ?

I would build around Kanter and Hayward, with Favors as a defensive anchor and designated rebounder in the pivot. I wouldn't build many offensive sets around Favors right now because they're mostly a waste of time. He's just a dump-off guy. Ideally, we bring in a leading scorer and Kanter/Favors become the 2nd & 3rd option. Hayward can shoot, pass and score. Kanter can draw a double team on the block and score both inside and out. There's something there to work with.

People should stop hyping Favors like he's an All Star. He's not close to that right now. I like what Burks does, but I'm not sure it will translate to more wins. Burke is a functional PG who can run sets, make shots and push tempo. But he doesn't look like a guy we can count on to create and make big plays.

Burke/Hayward/Jabari Parker/Kanter/Favors would be pretty good. Maybe we can also upgrade Burke at some point soon with one of the Harrisons. Til then, we just aren't that dynamic offensively.

Why do we need an NBA player? I say get a fan from the crowd each night til burke is better.
How about a coach? Where's Whoopi Goldberg when we need her.
For who? The fans of the other teams the Jazz play?

I signed up for this and I will gladly take it. As the season progresses we will see improvements from the players that the team wants to keep. This is the 3rd preseason game and it is against one of the best teams in the NBA.
I signed up too, still doesn't change the fact that I might do or say something I'm going to regret if things really go south
Get Tinsley on the phone stat.
great, and while your at it do the humane thing and gouge out my eyes, turns out I don't need them that badly if this is the case.
Jabari worries me. Can a slow three/small four make it?
Paul Pierce?

If defense was supposed to be Ty's criterion, then you Ty haters are in luck because it has been awful in the past two games.

P.S. Remember when everyone thought the Jazz looked like champions when playing a team that had played three games in four nights? Well...

Just kidding, after this pre-season game against a potential NBA finalist team, it's time to blow the team up. Lindsey's been planning it all along.

The only remotely devastating thing about tonight is Trey's injury and that has an absolutely huge silver lining (Corbin on the curb, a top-7 pick en route to the Jazz).

Yep. If the jazz get a star in next years draft(I think we get 2 lotto) it's the playoffs in 2015!!! Those first 15 or so games look even more tough now.

Good news is the Jazz outrebounded the Clippers 14-5 on the offended glass, and the two teams are tied at steals. The Clippers are really good at that and that shows that the Jazz are gonna be a dynamic team that can push the game in their pace. I actually was amazed to see a Jazz team at such speed running the floor on offense during the first game against Warriors. This team is going to be so much fun to watch. The stats tell that if it wasn't for the low FG %, the Jazz could win it. They also are tops in turnovers 14-24 which is supposed to be a big problem for this young team. This game has some good sights in it.
