What's new

Is this quote from Dennis Lindsey?

Agreed, but the Jazz being the 9-10th seed in the west this season would be worst case scenario.

Not necessarily. I feel if we are actually ready to be in that range we'll be around 40 wins this year. Given the roster I think that's a great sign going forward. My main draw back to that would be that a 40 win season basically guarantees Corbin is extended.

Worst case scenario for me would be right under that in the 11th-12th range. Means we definitely weren't very good and could be around the 8th pick.

Whats with all this "Gee I sure hope its not lindsey" stuff?

First, I'm not sure there is very much (if any) of that sentiment being expressed at all. Second, if they did, they'd be warranted. You don't want a blabbermouth as your GM.

Whats with all this "Gee I sure hope its not lindsey" stuff? I hope it is.. We all have been hoping for the tank. Everyone knows this is the only way to contend. We need a star. This next draft is our only hope. I sure hope that was lindsay cause if it is then he knows what he is doing.

The only gal who went there was CiCiCrackBoozer.

This is the kind of quote that will inspire David Stern, for his last act as commissioner, to change the system from a lottery to some sort of reverse-order reward system that would have helped the Jazz all these seasons but will screw them and award Wiggins to the Lakers. It is their destiny.

I love when Dennis says that during the rebuild we won't "be skipping important steps' during the process. I think he is referring to the Jazz possibly sucking balls to get a high draft pick.

Is that quote from Lindsey?

Wow, that is an excellent question, just let me say that the person writing that story doesn't know the committment the Jazz ownership group has shown in the team and their desire to build a solid team of individuals that reflect the core values of the organization and who can compete on a championship level.

But look, see if you go back and look and the game tape, and start running the numbers and breaking it down, it doesn't make alot of sense to attribute a quote to a guy when the quote doesn't match up with the analytics of how he constructs a thought and then applies those thoughts in a sentence. So I just say let the Jazz are going to continue to build on a foundation of success and will let the rest of the league worry about themselves.

Are you typing through a wicked case of deja vu? I mean, I know you troll this board regularly (and HARD), so why have you just posted something from 7-8 months ago?

not even close...

Well let's clarify that market-size statistics are only a piece to the puzzle. Ultimately, it comes down to who can draw fans from where. In that case, who is obviously smaller? Sacramento, who could claim the bay area and Reno when things are going well? Green Bay, which is all of Wisconsin?

the validity of a team's success increasing market size is an interesting thought, if i watch and support miami from here in utah does that make me part of their market? i dont know exactly how to follow or measure that, but i think it is relevant.

however if you include in pro sports the canadian teams (which are playing in our leagues and are very much a part of our pro sport market collective) there are several cities below ours, and i of course have little means beyond assumptions or hear say about the overall draw outside of the geographic region as you are citing. metro statistics show the following cities below the salt lake metro:

Nashville
Jacksonville
OKC
Memphis
Ottawa
New Orleans
Calgary
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Green Bay

take that list for what its worth, as you have indicated it is not the whole argument, and i agree. Pretty much all the cities with NFL teams are instantly boosted by a more-national following. That being said, I just cant argue the Salt Lake metro as being THE smallest market.

Oh ****. Hockey. Forget that sport exists. In that case, I have changed the rules to not include hockey because who ****ing cares about hockey.

The good thing about Discovery is that you could discover that the team is already good enough with it's core and that developing them is the answer, not the draft.

We certainly hope so...

.... but let's keep our '14 picks just in case.

Doubtful. I know we don't know a lot about DL but he doesnt seem like a dude who would go off like this...just saying.
