Let me say something that completely contradicts that..

If I'm the GM, I have to be VERY careful selecting #1. If Parker isn't the clear-cut favorite and you reach for him in the slightest.... the rest of the league/players see that as church before winning. If you doubt that you're delusional.

If I'm Utah I would rather pick 2nd if I want Jabari.

As of today, are you on board with Parker as the Number 1 pick... I think he's already a better version of Carmelo Anthony. I was listening to Cowherd the other day, and a scout on his show said that Wiggins could become Rudy Gay...

I think Wiggins is still the homerun pick.. but I'd probably take Jabari and KNOW I've got a superstar.

Very true but the Mormon base would love it, so does the FO play to that or not? I also think Utah lands #2. Parker is showing up so far and has moved up to #3 on the draft board (ESPN). I think by draft time him and Wiggins will be #1s and it could go either way.

I'm not so sure Parker won't be #1. I can see Jabari going 1 to any team. He's ****ing good. Like spazz said, there is a lot of college basketball.

I seriously don't think being LDS weighs very much into any equation as to who should be drafted or signed here. It's about who can help the team win games. If there is a better player that is who they will take.

I still say all this Parker over Wiggins, or Wiggins over Parker talk is way premature. We have a lot of college basketball ahead of us. I'm very interested to see what those two do, along with a handful of the other players out there.
This is exactly how I hope and believe the Jazz will make their decision.

I am not coming off right. Parker fits this Jazz team with his shooting, floor spacing, intangibles, position...

So if at the end of the day they are completely torn on Wiggins or Parker and do not know which way to go I think that financial benefits could come into play. In Utah Parker plays better then Wiggins as far as marketing and generating fan support. Keep in mind we are talking casual fans not us Jazzfaners that disect every little thing.

You would see thousands of posts on Jazz sites along the lines of: #LDSSuperstar and #MormonmomentNBA

If it is close I think his LDS faith does play some part.

pretty sure you can't go wrong with that prediction.
It's more of a response to the "jazz will take parker only because he's mormon" crowd than it is a prediction. I think we will still have to be pretty lucky in order to get parker. It's not a done deal.

was just making fun of the wording...

For sure, We have to get super lucky... bummer that there is a soild chance we may not end up with a top 2 pick... Its all in the air. If we ended up with Julius Randle or Dante Exum I would be happy, but still a little bummed. If we ended up with none of these four guys... I would be bummed beyond belief...

That was a crappy draft and Oden was a stupid pick with Durant there considering his long injury history and the fact that one of his legs is longer than the other. This is saying nothing of that the two players were not at all alike and that Oden had very little actual skill to his game.

Atrocious comparison but I'm not surprised.

Oden was the clear #1 pick that year. Saying it was stupid is just hindsight. To say Oden had no skill to his game makes you sound even more retarded. Did you even watch him at Ohio State?

Honestly, this. People keep saying that Parker being Mormon "doesn't matter"-- but I definitely have my doubts. I feel like if you polled Jazzfanz right now, 80% would draft Jabari 1st overall.

Even Hantlers the Duke-homer said he'd pick Wiggins first overall.

Let's not misunderstand here, Parker is phenomenal. But people are talking about Wiggins like he's Lamar Odom or outright comparing him to Greg Oden. They are not that far apart in skill or production, but Wiggins is simply an ELITE athlete and Parker isn't.

From a basketball standpoint, I would be out-of-my-mind thrilled to have Parker or Wiggins. I will admit that I would rather have the guy with the higher ceiling and not come with Jimmer 2.0 baggage.

That's all true.

Yeah, he was bigger, stronger, and more athletic than the competition. I guess if that's a "skill" then yeah, he was really skilled.
