but what an ideal time AND situation to blow a team completely up.

With some nice trade pieces (Favors, Kanter, Hayward, Burks, Burke), a superstar pick, another potentially great pick, expirings, and a deep free agency, and almost undoubtedly a new coach..... we could see a blow up of epic proportions.

Probably won't happen because the FO might be concerned the casual fan saw it as nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction to an awful year, but think about this...

If you were a damn good coach and you knew the Jazz would give you MAJOR input (like call the shots).. the Jazz are looking stellar. Sounds crazy, I know... but an egomaniac sideline guru would eat this up.

Center your team around the future.. Jabari or Wiggins. Shed the dead weight wannabe core for another top 10 pick (cheaper replacement of an equal player, imo), and go after two studs in FA or via trade.

What I'm really getting at here is a coach... and all the possibilities a real stud would have at his disposal.

So who is it?

Let's take Phil a moment... just for giggles.

Forget the location and the Jazz not being as sexy and glitzy as the Lakers .... if you were Phil.. would your ego look at the Jazz and say to yourself, "from one of the worst teams of all time to legit contender in two years. It's never been done.. great way to end a legacy."

Well... does he see it?

I think DL swings BIG for a homerun coaching hire. That allows the fanbase to not get overly restless with the terrible season and a roster makeover.

Transfer Coach K while drafting Parker.

Thought about this last night... Coach K has proved it at every level except Pro.... Especially if they win the championship this year, what else is he looking to accomplish as a college coach? Wooden's win streak record???

The Jazz are also built to be a coach K team... they have no real problem children, and they all seem like they really just want a structured team so they could finally get around to winning some games.

I see K retiring from Duke a legend. Too much legacy to be potentially tarnished by a potentially bad stint in the NBA.

The team already is blown up. This is a blown up team. If we're not a blown up team, then that's an indictment on the coaching. And if its an indictment on the coaching, why not see how another coach performs with the same team?

I wish I could see what Coach K would do with a team consist of "almost" college players in the NBA level.

Well some people maybe put family first. The NBA basically means that you're 110% occupied from September to May/June. You get international respect instead local admiration, but that's not what everybody wants. Maybe he simply enjoys teaching kids the ropes instead of dealing with adults who sometimes act like kids. Maybe he simply likes the higher college coach salaries combined with job security. And at that point I'm again where I started. Family!
That was a rondo.

But he's not the sure GOAT yet, he's just in the conversation... probably on the tail end of Phil Jackson, Auerbach, Wooden.

If he wins one or two in the pros, especially by transforming a absolutely turrible team from worst to first... he becomes the greatest of all time.

Phil is too old to coach, he's retired and likes it that way. Jerry's not coming back either.

Oh, you mean another guy named Phil J.

Don't want this to happen anyway. Want a good young coach who understands the game today. Don't want Red Auerbach either.

Blow up the team? What do you think this is? We already blew it up, a process that began when we traded D-Will.

This is what blown up looks like.

I think he's just fine with the legacy he's already created. The court would be named after him, but then it would have to be lengthened making it non-regulation.

I wasn't asking for Jackson.. was just using a name to outline my rhetorical.

Okay.. for the hair-splitters... I meant blow up the roster. sheesh

Anyone you have in mind? I don't see either Jackson or coach K wanting to be that coach.

I don't have anyone in mind. Wanted Stevens but knew it was a bad fit for him (I lack the energy to elaborate).

All the guys with the savvy and swagger are too old now. I would like to have a HUGE personality but also some measure of class. Meaning the savvy and/or swag of a Jackson or Riley type rather than just a loud-mouth like SVG.. not that I don't like him, but don't consider him a homerun hire.

Which is why we win our second game tonight. Chicago has quit and wants Thibbs out. This may be the ugliest game ever played. The TERRIBLE Jazz vs the trying to be more terrible Bulls.

This. I agree that this is the perfect time, but let's just start with Ty, shall we? We already have good talent (and will get more in the draft) that is going to waste with a horrible coach.
