He's probably thinking, "I remember what it feels like to announce games/seasons like this." Back in the NO days and early Utah days the Jazz were horrid, season after season. We've had about a sixth of a season of bad basketball and we're collectively ready to slit our wrists. Imagine if you had to try and sell the product over the radio, day after day. I'm suddenly feeling sorry for Locke (which doesn't mean I'm going to put myself through the misery of listening to him call a game at any point).
I've listened to more games this year than I've watched. Locke sucks so bad it's unbelievable. He tries way too hard and comes up with some of the most bizarre little superlative drenched phrases that he screams at the top of his lungs, it's just cringe worthy. Besides that I usually have no idea what's going on. If there are two players named Williams in the game he doesn't really differentiate. He often doesn't make clear when there's been a change of possession. He even gets the score wrong a lot because he just reads it off before it has been updated after a made basket. Same with fouls and such.
