What's new

This is the game thread for the game tonight! *OFFICIAL GAME THREAD.* Post here! Us v. Them @ 7PM

Kanter has regressed. I keep hoping that it is a manner of coaching and not actual talent but I'm starting to fear the worst.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using JazzFanz mobile app

Kanter was rehabing his shoulder all summer which limited his ability to work on his game or strength. That is why he appears to have regressed.

Ummmmm....

You don't get your power to post up from your shoulder.

Obtaining position down low doesn't come from your shoulder.

His explosiveness is down too. Explosiveness doesn't come from the shoulder either.

You can only ride that shoulder injury excuse for only so long.

I will agree with your post IF you have experience developing "explosiveness" and lower body strength and speed while recovering from a surgically repaired shoulder.

That injury has impacted his game. Two games ago he went to floor twice to scramble for loose balls. He didn't "dive" after the loose balls, like he did when he dislocated his shoulder; he sat on his *** and reached for the balls. Had he been willing to roll on the floor, he would likely have got at least one of them -- he didn't and got neither.

Of course he hasn't been the same since the injury.

However, i really question what he has done since then.

And are you really trying to question where lower body explosiveness comes from? Do you know anything about posting up?

Answer me this, what is the highest level of basketball that you've played in? You don't use shoulders to gain position down low, seal defenders, box out, or explode off the ground. You don't have to have recovered from shoulder surgery to know that, stupid ***.

What I am saying is that Kanter's summer development was essentially a bust because his shoulder rehab kept him from training the way he did in previous summers. So he has neither the strength he demonstrated his rookie year, nor the quickness he demonstrated last year.

Why would a shoulder injury prevent one from working out the legs? That's where explosiveness comes from. A shoulder injury would prevent him from working out his upper body and from performing certain lower body exercises. However, I've never seen anyone lose their lower body strength because of a shoulder injury.

I know it's blasphemy to ever question our young players because they're perfect and Corbin is Satan, but, maybe Enes didn't workout the way he should have? Perhaps, over the summer, he enjoyed America too much?

Have you ever ran with a bum shoulder? Any significant injury will have setbacks for parts of the body that you wouldn't think. I get injured fairly frequently because I do a lot of stupid outdoor things, and then I pretend that I'm going to keep my abs/legs/arms in shape while whatever other part is actually injured heals. It never works. You're usually just happy at the end if you have eaten fairly well and not put on 50 lbs, and rehabbed/healed enough to be able to workout again. You're going to be in terrible shape as far cardio and your strength is concerned, but the good news is it usually comes back quick once the injured part is operational.
