Following potential 2014 draftees

Before we go full hillbilly style I'ma chirp in and get myself some foreigner hate :D

I disagreed with the first sentence.. as you can switch offense/defense.. so I stopped reading.

Well on offense there are no positions, there are roles. You try as a team to deny the defense the matchups they want to get an advantage and higher % looks. If there was positions on offense, Dirk would be a 2/3. So I start assigning my guys that the media will label from PG through C to the opposite guys. Coaches don't talk exact positions, they talk guard, wing, forward, big.

Who are we going to get at 14 that is elite or doesn't have flaws.

Rodney Hood looks like a Spurs guy. I'd take him eventually.

Embiid looks to me like the most exciting "true-center" prospect in college since Greg Oden. I see Anthony Davis and Andre Drummond as PF/Cs.

Drummond is a Center. He's just way too mobile for his big body. Let's see how long his knee and ankles hold at his weight.

PF is the position where style of play swings, but I generally don't think you want your best player there. What I'm trying to get at is that you ideally want your PF to be a good defensive player, spread the floor, or otherwise be able to exploit a mismatch (particularly large/powerful or work a lot on the perimeter). Julius Randle doesn't seem to possess any of those qualities (and neither does Aaron Gordon).

Julius Randle was billed as this PF with ample perimeter ability, a good jumpshot, and with plenty of athleticism to spare. I haven't seen any of that, although I admit to being plenty naive. What I see is a bruiser that isn't very big, very fast, or very explosive, and he doesn't seem have a great jumpshot or defensive ability either.

Meh. But I of course could be wrong.

So basically Josh Smith with brainz and a better shot is your prototype power forward? Lulz. You know that from the between 1999 and 2011 in 6 or 7 out of 13 championship teams a power forward was the best player of his team? And you could make an argument that LeBron even counts as half a PF as well with Miami's stretch the floor lineups.

Never denied it.

/I'll be honest, I've watched maybe 2-3 Duke games this year. I'm losing interest fast.

Lol even I have watched more.

Is this about sexual intercrose?

It always is

I found myself wondering right now:
Have you ever envisioned that Eric Bledsoe might be the best point guard who every played at Kentucky?(Haven't found really famous ones in the past ones, so during the Calipari era for sure)

Better than Wall? No.
After that, yes.

Calipari era;
Wall
Bledsoe
Knight
Teague
AnHarrison

I think he's better than Wall. He's a winner, he defends, he makes others around him better and he doesn't lose games frequently due to crunchtime ballhogging.

I have a simple question. No right or wrong answer.

- you are the new GM of a new franchise (expansion). You have first pick and must choose between the two for a 3yr commitment. Who do yiu take?

depends on who else I have. neither is a franchise player

I think Wall is being drastically undervalued here. He has played with total **** and is beginning to hit shots, score and assist very impressively. Would like to see what he could do with a better cast and playing for something.

I look at him in crunchtime and he stops ballmovement, I don't see him defending and I don't think anyone else here has ever picked on Wall. At least I can't remember.

What have both in common? Neither looks pretty. I just think that Eric is a guy others enjoy playing with more and his contract is going to look more friendly economically.

1) I never said anyone picked on him. I said he's being undervalued "here" (meaning, by you, within this conversation).
2) The ONLY thing I'd give you is the salary part.

Player to player (at face value) anyone would be nuts to take Bledsoe over Wall.

Rondo?

Oh okay didn't know how you meant the undervalued part.
I still think both are players worth about $12-14M a year right now, not a single quarter more. And I also think that a player who earns max should be nothing but hated by fans if they disappear in the 4th quarter or like Wall even negatively impact games.
Good for his bank account, bad for Ashington Izards fans. No W's for you guys in the foreseeable future.

We'll see how good Bledsoe becomes. Maybe he'll be a more complete player. Maybe he doesn't even need to because Rondo's knee is done.

@peeks
He is saying Bledsoe might be the best point guard ever to play at Kentucky.......... I think by that criteria that rondo should be in the discussion

@btp, you shouldn't include injuries into your prediction or its not a fair comparison.... You assume that Bledsoe is just gonna stay healthy and that rondo will never recover. Very nice way to skew things in favor of your arguement

I didn't say it is how it is. I just wondered. And was like: Damn that might be the general opinion in 2 or 3 years(It's Bledsoe's breakout year and the hard part is not being good, but staying good)
I know that right now most ppl will say: It's Wall or Rondo. I simply have a different opinion on Wall and we'll see how Rondo returns. So all I wanted to highlight was the possibility. Hence using the subjunctive.

Money.

lmao

true

a lot of scouts are wrong

and so are you .. still

And you know for sure you are right? We will see. It is because he is a Euro he could not be as good as lets say Gordon, Vonleh, etc? He has a lot going for him except his outside shot, but he is only 19 so time for improvement.
