Following potential 2014 draftees

I've decided to ignore all your SF, #Hungry, fire in the belly, etc stupid trolling for a while.
I played along for too long and now it's ****ing old.

@__@ seriously I don't know why you take those stuff as trolling...

Meant everything I said, seriously 100% tbh, and I think you know it.

Re: Harris

I may be selling him short and may have just made up my mind about him too early, but I don't see it. I like him mid teens, but DX has him at #10 and I see disaster that high.

In my eyes, he has trouble getting his shot off against longer players. James Young at 6'6.5 shut him down when he was guarding him.
He's shooting only 40% from the field and 29% from 3. I'm not in love with that considering he's 6'4.

Vaughn - I'm hearing he's legit open and it's dead-even between the rebs and cyclones.. with UK coming strong late.
Most believe UK has too much ground to make up and in the end the ties to the staff at ISU is too much to overcome and he goes there. But I don't think there's a decision atp.

Your sources are surely better than what I have, however I do hear the opposite and that he loves the unlv staff especially former pilot coach Todd simon. Also have heard Rebs are edging in on Elijah Thompson. Anyways not a rebel recruitment et thread so l stop.... We should have a college bball forum as it does seem that interest in all facets of mncaa is at a high on these forums.

Agree.

I can't go into this in depth, but I will say UK is being VERY cautious about Vaughn and some handlers a la 'Bazz. They view him as potentially toxic ... and that those 'ties' favor ISU.

I have also heard from a much less reliable source (than that of above) that he personally prefers UNLV.

They were hailed as the #1 PG and #1 SG coming out of High School. I like them, but they're learning how to play team ball.
They're both a bit slow and could be average, at best, defenders at the NBA level.

I think it's way too early though, considering it's almost an entirely all-freshman team and they're only like 12 games into their collegiate careers... not to mention they're pretty damn good as it is....... but I think their games may not translate well to the NBA.
why exactly?
If by "playing" you mean "half assing" then ya
Spy needs a hug.
I think we end up with the 7th and 18th pick. GS will have injuries and does not have the bench to compete without one of their 6 dudes missing time. The 7th pick still puts us in a position to potential win the lottery and if not land a potential all star. Everyone is so hung up on Jabari that they seem to be missing all the other amazing players in this draft. Tbt, Jabari is going to be special and fits like a magnum does to my junk in Utah, but we have some special on this team me thinks. Trey is looking like a potential top 5 pg, favors is improving so much and Hayward is the ultimate glue player. Add anyone of the top 7 players in the draft to this group and I can't see why we should be disappointed. I'd also trade kanter with that 18 pick for a pick in the 8-10 range and a young vet rotation player. Ed Davis?
Been saying this for a while now. Guys are coming along nicely and Burke looks legit. We can still get a legit Allstar in this draft, and Hayward looks like a legit playmaker, just not a main scorer, and Burks and Favors are looking good as well. Don't see why we can't trade Kanter and GS pick for a better pick

He looks really legit. That's what I am saying though. We have become so hung up on Jabari and Andrew that many think the rest suck. There are potential all stars through at least 10 perhaps 11.
Been sayin this over and over too.. funny how many more guys would look legit if we had never sniffed a top 10 pick..

I see one problem though:
The Jazz need that #1 guy. They have these potential borderline allstar players and role players already on their team.
Problem I see with Hayward, even though I may be wrong as I'm rarely watching full Jazz games, is that he isn't exactly good at beating his defender and creating high% looks for himself. That can allow his defender to overplay the passing lane, taking away a strength. And I don't really know how much untapped talent Favors has offensively. By getting the top5 pick you ensure that you don't have to worry about any of this with a high probability. With the supporting cast already in place you won't have the 3 year drought like the Thunder had, allowing your new hero to learn through individual mistakes while the rest of the team ensures that you win enough games to be close to the playoffs or in it.
I totally agree that the Jazz winning games has put some guys here in an apocalyptic mood and overlook the depth of the draft, but the Jazz aren't really interested in guys that can be valuable #1 options unless they can use that guy to acquire a #1 option. I wouldn't expect them to be able to lure a #1 option in free agency.

That premise is easily understood. However, IF we have a good enough supporting cast to contend and a good enough coach.. I can see a #1 option coming to Utah if paid the MAX. Get the money, the credit, and the fame of not only winning a championship but the franchise's first. That legacy angle could most definitely be sold.

^ not only that, but not all #1 options (on offense) are necessarily top 3 picks

Someone pls tell me how many top 9 picks are on the roster of the Indiana Pacers

i really like Gordon in the 7 to 10 range. Do think he is a year or 2 away from being more of a contributor.

Harris is no longer needed with Burks playing so well.

Jarami Grant is ver interesting in the late teens. If he could hit 3s consistnetly he would probably be pushing top 10. Kid has a lot of athleticism

I still like James Young. 3 and D players are great on your team i just dont think he is a franchise player and drafting top 10 you want that in this draft.

I am still wanting McDermott with the GSW pick. Although with Burks anchoring the second unit McDermitt wont get as many touches to be the minute man off the bench.

I would even consider GRIII in the twenties but not before.

There is something about Sam Dekker that makes me think the Jazz will look long and hard at him in the 20s. It might be the Hayward comparisons.

TJ warren is also a player in the second round i would love if he falls that far.

Adreian Payne is the stretch 4 the jazz seem to be coveting.

So who between 7 - 10 is your franchise player?

James Young. Do we miss CJ Miles that much? I can't remember the last college player I've seen who is such a gunner despite not being able to shoot worth a ****. He's young and I guess the shooting could improve, but until it does improve, my goodness, have some discipline kid, and pass the damn ball. The one thing I will say about Young, is he looks taller than the 6'6" he's listed at (maybe even closer to 6'8") and he does show some hustle at times.

Young has not been outstanding but your post was simply dickish.

Against Louisville, Young had 18pts, 10rbs, 4asts, 1 stl, 1blk.. while drawing tough defensive assignments (2PF's and 2TO's).

Not the chucking one-dimensional player you just pigeon-holed.

In his very short career, he is shooting 34% from 3. Not good, but it's not alarming enough to ignore his career 45%+ shooting in HS.

To summarize, I'm not sure what to make of Young yet... but I couldn't let you call him CJ Miles.

And yes.. he's 6'7

Who are the breakout players this season? Seems like the Jabari-Wiggins hype has drowned out all talk of those 2-3 players who hit a growth spurt and came out of nowhere. TIA.
