Midvale • Dozens of senior citizens at Applewood Park fear that a company affiliated with Ivory Homes is trying to drive them out of their manufactured homes to make way for a large apartment complex near the TRAX line at 7500 South and 200 West.

But Bolton Property Management owner Cory Tanner, who operates the park, labeled those fears as baseless. "These rumors are not true," he said.

Tanner acknowledged the company raised rents in December and will do so again in June to bring the rates up to market value.

Old people are being forced out of their cheap mobile homes to make way for something of much greater value.

I only posted the first part of the article. Enter the link and read the entire thing. It's pretty interesting. I don't know whether these folks are being forced out or not. But raising their rates every few months on people with fixed incomes seems pretty suspicious.

I HATE the term "fixed income." Gawd, I would LOVE to have a "fixed" income and know I would be taking home, at worst, $X amount of dollars.

So, why do I have to feel bad for people who didn't save their whole lives, and now that they can't/refuse to work, they are poor? What did they think would happen?
 
^and there's nothing wrong with raising rates pursuant to an agreement or lack of one. Highest and best use. Want to lock in a rate? Buy. Or get government housing. I have no love of Ivory Homes, tbh.. and know two chairmen.. but I just don't have much apology for exercising free enterprise and pursuit of profit within agreed-to structure. To each their own though.

I know the Ivory guys... well. I think they are whores. I think this story lacks grit.

Yeah it's changed for worse. No debate there. Sad you can't see it being blinded by your own light as you are. Simon better hide. LotF is here to stay it would seem.

Know what's funny?

I could link recent substantial, insightful, and thought-provoking posts of my own into this thread. Know what they all have in common?
None of you, nor really anyone else, replied to those posts. Talk of religion, current events, historicity, or even in-depth bb talk.. they don't get very far.

Is that my fault? I think it would be incredibly egotistical to think so.. and I don't.

I think it's simply that most people come to this site as a means to escape daily life.. it's like recess if you will.
Thats my view anyway. I think your elderly-like "get off my lawn" mentality is equally as exhausting as the "won't take things seriously doe" crew.

So there you sit on your high horse... I prefer to take JazzFanz far less cereally and just enjoy it moar, tbphwy.

Truth. It's more about whose e-peen is bigger as of late. Logic and facts take a back seat.

That is not to say I'm not guilty of it. It is to say that it's pretty easy to get swept up in it.
