Following potential 2014 draftees

Hayward can play good defense.
Burke too.
Gobert too

Burke = no defense. He just likes to speak about his long arms.
Hayward, effort yes, but his athleticism is too underwhelming. He can't bother Durant -> big nono.
Gobert may be good. We'll see. But only Favors won't be enough. You need 1 tough defensive big and 1 wing defneder with long arms and good lateral quickness to force opposite wings into uncomfortable shooting positions and away form the basket. Then you need 1 or 2 more from the bench. Let's look at your bench. Alec Burks? Good joke.

Yeah its time we start paying attention to this guy given our tank trajectory.

I don't know if he'd be redundant to Favors. Low skill, big time athlete. Has long ways to go but I don't wanna risk that if another option is on the table. After this year the Jazz won't be high in the lottery for quite some time. So you gotta nail it IMO. No 2nd chance

53% from deep doesnt seem redundant to favors or low skill

If we're picking 7th, I'd be okay with Gordon or Vonleh. It would be a let down after getting my hopes up on Wiggins/Parker, but we'd still get a solid piece with a lot of upside. Not sure which one of them I prefer at this point doe

I'm thinking Vonleh for the long game. At 6'10" and 7'4" wingspan he could potentially bother Durant who seems to be able to score 40-50 at will. At the end of the day he is the gatekeeper in the west for the next 7 years.

Vonleh is a PF, he won't be guarding Durant.

What positions do you think Gordon & Vonleh will guard/play in the NBA?

on .8 trys. Last season TJ Warren shot 52% on .8 trys. This year he shoots it more and is at 22%. Plus unless the shots are way beyond the college line it's no NBA three, but a avg efficiency mid range spot up.
I meant it more like athletic, unpolished, PF body, Center skills.

I take Gordon. He'll figure it out no matter if he's a 3 or 4. Vonleh is too much risk.

Vonleh 4/5
Gordon 4 or 3. If he's indeed only 6'6.5" w/o shoes he'll have a hard time playing PF with these T-Rex arms. Might be best served to transition to SF. Even if it fails some time will take a chance on him.

I think Vonleh can guard NBA 3's. Reminds me of a young Marvin Williams when it comes to athletic ability.

I'd love Gordon in the 7-10 range. He'll bring us a long of length/energy/athleticism and could eventually be a terror defensively on the perimeter. He's a really gifted athlete, one of the top 3 in the draft (Wiggins/Embiid).
