It's not quite that cut and dry, but there is obviously a particular disparity in his production against lesser players. The thing that frustrates me is that he isn't even looking at the floor or to pass when he gets a post catch. The only time he considers such an outlandish thing is when he gets swarmed or whatever he's doing isn't even close to working. That isn't winning basketball, and if Kanter reaches a point where he can regularly abuse starting-calibre players, he will have a steep learning curve on playing good team basketball. He seriously is giving Al a run for his money on being a ball-stopper.
Feeding into all of this and something that also reflects some improvement is his general speed in-game. He was plagued with this apparent mental fog leading up to the last couple of weeks and he's finally making quicker decisions. That said, he still could improve on getting into his move faster. He's also not very good at establishing deep position before a catch which would make his life immensely easier. I wonder sometimes if the plays the Jazz run just don't help cultivate him to be the best player he can be (part of his passing problems are that he gets such an extreme left-side isolation that he faces a wall when he goes middle and has to pass through traffic [which is why you see him sometimes run out of the post to the 3pt line to make the pass], I don't notice him getting many cross-screens to get him closer to the basket, and the Jazz don't seem very focused on getting him TIMELY passes in the post).
