GMs look at the upside and measurables too. he is clearly better player than glen robinson right now, but most likely he won't even get picked before glen robinson, his robin. staus has alpha dog mentality and he really carries the team. grob on the other hand - i call him lil pup. unlike his father big dog, he shrinks under pressure. at the moment he doesn't know how to create his own offense, too unselfish and he is happy with being #2.
but...
robinson is longer, better athlete, and has better overall upside and shown flashes. if i had to bet he will be picked top 20. staus will be 25 to 30 range.
staus is a baller who really has klay thompson potential, but he has relatively short arms, still little too slight, and most likely will be measured at around 6ft 4 1/2 barefoot which doesn't help with his short wingspan.
and yes, him being white dude is costing him at least 6-7 spot. that's a sad reality.
there is a chance stauskas can crack top 15 - if he can take his team to final four again, and really do some serious damage in the tourney. we've seen that kind meteoric rise before. and he would have to nail predraft and really impress scouts. kinda like what timmy hardaway jr. did last year.
again, that's my boy, but top 10 in this deep draft? i can't see it happening. maybe top 10 in a weak draft like last year, but not this year.
