Is "It" any good? The movie scared the living F out of me when I was a kid. I remember playing basketball after I watched the movie (around 2nd grade) and the ball fell into the rain sewer across the street. I had to crawl into to get the ball and I made my mom come out and watch me do it so she would know if It killed me.
It was one of King's better drug-fueled supernatural horrors. I enjoyed the book. I thought the movie was a little too cartoonish for me, didn't bring to life the images in my head, which were far far scarier.

I've only read one of those big epic fantasy series--the GOT books. Sounds like GOT suffering from what happened w/ Wheel of Time though--great beginning, a lumpy middle, and hopefully it picks up again. At least we have the show to ensure an ending, though.

If life has taught anyone anything, let the mouth breather make a decision and then do the opposite. The Stand was a fantastic book albeit long as Fish stated. I enjoyed it thoroughly and remember not being able to put it down.
Well, that was pretty rude. If you like 500 pages of character development in which the characters are utterly forgettable, then you should love The Stand. There are some ardent King fans here, and I'm one of them, so it seems odd to go against the wisdom of some of the other super-fans -- but I just didn't care for it at all. FWIW, "The Kid" was the stupidest character in that whole book. Maybe it's because I'm not into the whole
If we are listing King books from best, or most favorite, to worst, or least favorite, mine goes like this:
1. The Dead Zone
2. The Shining
3. The Gunslinger (the first in the series)
4. The Green Mile
5. Misery
6. The Stand
7. Thinner
8. Pet Sematary
9. Salem's Lot
10. Carrie
Interesting. Of your top 10, I'd only put Misery and Salem's Lot in there. (I would put the entire DT series as number 1, but for the sake of taking up 8 spaces on the list...)
10. Delores Clairborne
9. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
8. Gerald's Game
7. Cujo
6. The Mist
5. Needful Things
4. Duma Key
3. Cell
2. Dreamcatcher
1. Under the Dome
I agree whole heartedly on Delores Claiborne, Gerald's Game (WTF was up with that piece of ****? Child molestation FTW?), Duma Key, Cell, and Dreamcatcher. I liked how Delores and Gerald's Game had links to each other, as well as Rose Madder and other books, but that wasn't enough to save them from being garbage. Dreamcatcher was bar-none the worst of the worst, with Cell and Duma coming in close second.
11/22/63 was awesome. Didn't really understand or care for the whole "Yellow Card Man" character, but that's King for you. The Long Walk was also awesome, and I **** you not, one of the characters reminded me 100% of fishonjazz. Anytime he spoke, I pictured your avatar. His name escapes me, but it was totally you.
If I'm making a top 10 for King (since it seems we're on the subject):
1) The DT series, easily.
2) Insomnia. If you like the DT series then you'll love this. I can't believe nobody else has mentioned it.
3) Black House. It is the sequel to The Talisman, but it's so much better.
4) Salem's Lot. I'm biased because of the DT tie-in's, but it's still a great vampire book -- before vampire books became gayer than Anderson Cooper.
5) Desperation.
5b) The Regulators. They are two totally different stories with the same cast of characters. Loved both of them.
6) 11/22/63.
7) Blockade Billy. Kind of a random story, but you can feel King's passion for baseball come through.
8) Under the Dome. Would have put it further up the list, but the ending made me want to puke. Overall it was a great read though.
9) A bunch of short stories and/or novella's: Little Sisters of Eluria, The Breathing Method, The Body (Stand By Me), that one about the kids who swim out to that raft in the middle of the lake and get attacked by the ooze -- can't remember the name, The 10 o'clock People, Apt Pupil (awesome), The Shawshank Redemption, The Boogeyman, Sometimes They Come Back, The Lawnmower Man (wtf was he smoking when he thought up this one?), Quitters Inc., and a few others that I can't think of.
10) Joyland. Again, not your typical King book, imo, and I liked it quite well.
I've only read 42 of his books, so I'm a little behind. I haven't read some of the staples because I either already know the story, or simply have no interest:
Carrie
The Dead Zone
Cujo
Christine
Thinner
The Tommy Knockers
Pet Semetary
Bag of Bones
From a Buick 8
I also enjoy the fact that UGLI can get in on this thread, even though he probably hasn't read a book since his last unsuccessful venture into the Cat In The Hat series.
Just finished my 1400+ page version of the stand. Very entertaining book. The couple king books I read were a welcome reprieve from what I normally read and now I can at least have some reference points for his writing

Funny, i have read about the exact same amount of king books as you and i have not read cujo, carrie, christine, thinner, pet semetary, or from a buick eight. Tommy knockers is one of my favorites.
Dead zone and bag of bones are both really good too.
I started the Wheel of Time with the prequel, without knowing. It completely screwed up the first book as I could figure out what the one character is after the first couple chapters. The next 50 or so were nothing but filler to get almost to that point.
