14th Tank Platoon

If Youre going to tank you do it to the extreme. No guarantee they would be 2nd worst without these trades.

Why keep guys you dont have interest in re signing?

Word. Like I said, I don't think any of the moves they made matter as much as the Noel/Holiday trade.

I can nearly guarantee they would still be the 2nd worst without the moves. They are in the middle of a 9 game losing streak that have two of the worst losses of the season.

So the Sixers basically making the Pacers #1 contender unless the Thunder can counter that somehow. Does that mean now that the Pacers owe the Sixers one for the time when the Sixers have a contention window and the Pacers enter a rebuild period?

Contenders who add pieces at the deadline usually don't improve that much, if I recall history correctly (which might be wrong).

But you agree that on paper Evan Turner is an upgrade for everything but their spaceing issues?
Plus he gives them leeway for their negotiations with Lance. So let's say Lance says: I want $13M a year. Some teams are offering me that much. Then the Pacers can think about it and say: Yo we need only 1 elite wing defender logging many minutes anyways as other teams dont have wing tandems as often. So we just sign Evan Turner for $8M a year on a shorter contract and with the remaining $5M we get ourselves some Tony Allen and another defensive specialist for our bench.
Then Lance says either: Ey Larry, $10M is okay for me as well - DEAL?
Or he says: Nah stick with Turner, my family is starving.
Maybe even the Pacers may be like: Ey I'm the 80 year old owner. I wanna win a chip. So I pay luxury tax a couple year my kids are wasting my money anyways and selling the Pacers might give them just a little bit more than they can ever waste.

Sounds like the Pacers got Evan Turner and LaVoy Allen?

Could work for the Pacers if Turner can thrive in 20 mpg.

WHAT THE **** THE PACERS GOT EVAN TURNER!?!?!?! WTF UTAH!?!?! How on EARTH DID WE NOT OFFER SOMETHING!?!

Literally one of the best "give nothing get a ****load of something for a title-run" trades I have ever seen. ****ing Evan Turner man!! The dude is playing like a fringe all-star! 17.4/6/3.7. Jeez. Pacers have HANDS-DOWN the best wing-rotation in the league right now. Wow.

Pretty much: I mean they wanted the worst possible contract in return. Andris? Biedrins?

I'm floored. I guess Turner is on his last-year, and he wouldn't extend with Utah-- so he was destined to be a half-year rental for some contender. But WOW was this a huge pick-up for Indiana. Huge.

Where the hell were these deals back in the DWill days? Geez.

Playing like a fringe all-star is taking the Turner praise way to far.

Really surprised the Spurs didn't get him if that was what little it took. They supposedly had interest.

Turner would be a RFA. He would have no choice in the matter of coming back to Utah or not.

I'm just a bit of a Turner fan, admittedly. I think he has a rather strange skill-set, and I like that. Can play either position, he's a good playmaker, and I think he could cause serious tremors coming off the bench. Still, the Pacers need all the floor-spacing they can get, and Turner is still averaging <30%. Hopefully he can start hitting that corner 3 like he did last season.

I understand that-- but Burks and Turner offer similar skills, and I would choose to extend Burks ahead of extending Turner. Turner is probably the better playmaker-- while Burks has way more potential in terms of scoring from pretty much everywhere on the court.

Turner is like a poor version of Hayward.

In Turner's best year he is about the same as Hayward in his worst year.
