What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

That's what it seemed like in his scouting report. I wouldn't be terribly excited about Vonleh either. Not as our tank prize.

Tbh im so much in tank for wiggins and parker mode that im gonna be disappointed no matter who we pick

Vonleh is just scratching the surface, try not to get too down on the IU film his team was awful and didn't position him properly.

Noah, Aaron Gordon and James Young are basically the same age as next years #1 pick Jahlil Okafor

with Noah its all about the tools/versatility(dem hands are huge) his ceiling is ridiculously high IMO. something like a better rebounding Rasheed Wallace

I just don't like my starting PG (and that's who he'll be picking him that high) who have these attributes:

- Question mark over his handle, low assist/TO ratio
- Question mark over his 3pt shooting (and shooting in general)
- Doesn't have a great court vision
- Limited athletically (his best move is backing down an undersized guard, won't work in the NBA)
- Not quick due to his build/size (for the PG position)

I'd rather have someone like Burke running the point, quick, good change of speed, solid Assist/TO ratio, can knock down the open 3's.

I've been waiting for Smart to surprise me this year. But he hasn't really done it. He's still shooting 30% from college 3's. 74% FT shooting. 42% FG percentage overall. To me that just won't do.

Just my opinion though, I know lots of people here love Smart - I'm totally fine with that, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Smart is a 2 guard.

Smart is probably the hungriest player in the draft too. He is 2 am munchies/just smoked a whole 8th, at Taco Bell hungry. How can you not like him, you are the King of Hunger.

Smart is hungry.

I'm just afraid he won't have any real athletic advantages by the time his skills get up to par.

I think he'll contribute in the short-term better than anyone not named Parker or Wiggins tho

Bro, if you're a good player, "Hunger" pushes you to become GREAT.

Smart just has too many question marks for me to be excited about.

I know we've talked about him before, but KJ McDaniels really doesn't get enough love. He did a good job, especially when you consider how bad Clemson was offensively.

I alwys thought KKK might be legit be handicapped, but now that I know he would draft Ennis over Smart I know he is.

Wiggins
Jabari
Exam
Embiid
Randle
Gordon
Vonleh
Ennis

Yes - in a tie-breaker between Smart vs Ennis, I'm going with Tyler Ennis to run my team, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Randle isn't athletic enough, nor does he have the wingspan to be an above-average PF.

Gordon is a worse shooter than Smart, more of a tweener, shows considerably less offensive skills and is about the same impact wise defensively.

Vonleh is raw, hasn't exactly showed much of anything this year. No post moves, average shooter, turnover prone, not a leader, and in his last 3 games had 17 points….total. Smart averages that per game.

Ennis isn't worth mentioning. You put Smart on him, and he doesn't do anything.

Marcus Smart may be the best defender in college right now, and he's certainly the best guard defender. While his shooting may not be great, it has improved while last year. Increased his assists while decreasing his turnovers, in addition to taking a larger role on the team. He is that teams heart and soul. He gets to the line easily, that's a skill that translates. He finishes at the rim, that's a skill that translates. He rebounds very well for a guard, that's a skill that translates. He defends his *** off, and he hustles more than any elite college player I've seen in a long time, that's a skill that translates. Put him in the open spacing of the NBA, and he's easily averaging 12/5/4 as a rookie, while providing excellent defense. That's a guarantee…you can quote me on that.

You also have to remember his intangibles. He's a leader, he hustles…what happens when other players see the best player on the court diving around for loose balls? They're gonna dive around for loose balls. His playing style is contagious. While I would prefer Wiggins/Parker/Embiid, and I'm still 50/50 on Smart and Exum…I would not be disappointed at all in getting Marcus Smart.
