I Think It Looks Really Bad for Next Year

We beat a horrible team Saturday night by 1 freaking point on a Trey prayer. Jefferson had 17 points in the first quarter and he's gone next year. Beyond the core 5 who do we really have. I will say the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Beans, Luke, Ian, Rush are pretty much worthless as NBA guys. Jeremy might start for Reno but it's like they have got to use the free agent money and the draft picks and bring in some playas. I'm not as optimistic as I was last fall that Tim Duncan Jr. was going to show up in Salt Lake City.

I think fans need to be realistic next year. Even if its best case like OKC/Sea. They got KD lost a bunch of games then got Westbrook, lost some more then Harden. After that they were the 8 seed and took LAL to 6 games. Even if the Jazz end up with Imbid, Parker, or Wiggins patience is indeed needed.

Pass on whoever this guy is.

Here is our team next year:

Burke
Burks
???
Favors/Kanter
Gobert

Throw in two draft picks and possibly Hayward. Here is where the big difference maker is: we will have a new coach.

I've said time and time again, OKC is the only way Utah can go to build a contender. That means three TERRIBLE years and lots of luck.

Here is the problem with Utah. We already have our Ibaka, Harden and Westbrook with Favors, Hayward and Burke. The problem is, we need a Durrant, and I'm not sure if Favors, Hayward and Burke are anywhere near as good as Ibaka, Harden and Westbrook. So, we might already have a ceiling on our success (unless we win the lottery this year, then the pick turns into a superstar and then the GS pick becomes a top 5 pick in 17).

I think it looks good. Utah is tied for 4th pick right now. All year long we have read nothing but "IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!" Well, here we are about 18ish games from the end of the season and Utah is tied for 4th. Is it over? Of course not but we are still VERY much in this. So I advocate what I have all along. Let's finish this ride. See where we stand when it's all over.

Can things go south? Obviously they can. But it is just as realistic that things work out great. We are in the home stretch and are still very much competitive for a bottom 5 team.

The board has just gotten extremely pessimistic. Y'all enjoy your doom and gloom. Worst case scenario is that things go south and I get bummed. But I still had a full season where I was happier than the pessimists.

This was always a win win season for me and things are looking good. We were never going to be in the bottom 3 unless a lot more injuries had happen. The only thing I've hated is Jefferson starting/playing to many minutes. Wish we could have traded him or something. This year has been a lot more fun tbh than last year.

If the Jazz get Wiggins/Parker we might have a shot at the 8th seed.

If we get any other player we will be back fighting for another lottery pick.

This.

I've seen a lot of growth from our core players this year, which makes me extremely excited for the future. I never expected Hayward to be a #1 option, and I don't think our FO did either, but the experience he gained this year will make him that much more of a threat when we do somehow land our #1.

Burks is unquestionably a very good NBA caliber starter now.

Kanter's defense has slowly gotten better as his rebounding has returned. Now he needs to get his shot to come back (think that has something to do with huge bruise on arm from LAC game). An offseason of training with Malone, possibly Memo, and more p3 sessions, opposed to rehabing and being limited has me incredibly excited about this kid's potential.

Favors has learned how to pass and has gained some offensive moves.

Trey went from looking like a complete bust in Summer League to being able to finish in the paint, shoot from the outside, not turn the ball over, and somehow shoot above 50% when (even when he's been having a horrible game) in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter. He's shown some flashes of court vision brilliance as well, which gives me hope that we may be in good hands when Hayward is no longer our primary distributor. I am excited to think of what an offseason at P3 will do for him, considering that even beefire the draft he was working out with his dad's friends instead of real trainers. Next year, he may have more quickness to actually play adequate defense.

Gobert is an insane shot blocking machine. An offseason of weight training and catching the ball in the post and on the move will do wonders for his game. Instead of having him work with Malone like Kanter and Favors, it would be awesome if the Jazz could enlist the service of Mark Eaton.

I believe Jeramy is being misused and abused at the PF position. He developed a very pretty jumper last offseason, Gordon says he can hit the 3 ball as well. In Jazz sit down meeting they should tell him they want to reposition him to SF, so he should use the offseason working on his handles, passing, and get laterally faster.

I highly doubt Ty is coming back next year.

I think that all 3 of our potential draft picks this year will be good players, and plus we'll probably have that stud Neto come over as well.

Even if our first pick only nets us Aaron Gordon at best, he might be best option for team with his top notch defense at positions 1-4. He's an incredible athlete, and a great passer, and can hit the 3 ball. His free throws are atrocious, but look how far Derrick's have come.

I am definitely optimistic for our future.

Luckily the 2015 draft is loaded, unlike this years, and 2013, and 2011 and 2010.

Jazz have become the clippers, or the warriors

Stein's write-up on the jazz in this week's power rankings:

Pretty much everyone significant who was allowed to leave the Jazz last summer -- Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap and, most notably, Jeff Hornacek -- is flourishing with their new teams. Instinct tells me this is not a development that has escaped the attention of the die-hards in SLC.

That kinds of leaves me with a pitt in my stomach. What is we resigned Al, Sap and Mo and fired Ty and made Jeff the coach.

You had me at "I highly doubt Ty is coming back next year."

things look good for the jazz next year;
a good player coming in from draft. (Smart for example)
Core will be there (+ Hayward / - Hayward?)
Better bench (things can only get better in that department)
and a coach,pls!
