What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

I can see Randle as trying to be a poor man's Lebron, but he's got a ways to go with his handle, passing and shooting. Plus he doesn't often get above the rim on drives.

I'm going on record here:

I hope the jazz use Burke as bait to move up in the draft -- whether that's with our pick or with the GSW pick. Watching Burks is confirming what I knew from the beginning of the season: let him and Hay play the guards and push the pace. Surround them in the half-court with good scorers.

Maybe Burke will come back next year a changed man, but he looks timid and very limited to me.

That vid Nikkk posted reminds me that I actually still like Poythress as a value pick in the 20s. He's somewhere on my list for the GSW pick. I think he has a better shot of playing SF than Randle right now, as a Marvin Williams type.

He can definitely play SF. Can be very good defensively and brought off the bench for energy, hustle, defense, putbacks, and rebounding.
His only real weakness is between the ears and feeling 'worthy' of being great. Too passive.

Give him millions of bucks and a Benz and he might feel more comfortable.

Burke is far from a finished product. Guy improved in college and is known to be a hardworker. All he needs to do is to attack to rim and create for others especially in transition. That being said I would trade him to improve our pick(Not the GSW one).

This is sounding a bit too much like the Darius Miller conversation for my comfort.

Deron improved vastly from year 1 to year 2, averaged 10.8 ppg and 4.5 apg his rookie year, then improved to 16.2 ppg and 9.3 apg his sophomore year.

Deron's physical profile >>>>>>>>>>> Trey's physical profile.

Definitely but we should see the same trend in Trey's game as well even if it is a lesser one. Deron only averaged 0.1 more FTA's in his first year before averaging 3.5 FTAs in his second season. That alone would improve Trey vastly.

That's surprising, and gives me hope.

I agree. I mean, part of me hopes we're patient with Trey. But I'm also more uncertain about him than any other youth. I see falling stock.

I just have a really hard time believing that a perennial backup in college who has all the talent to be great, but lacks the mental fortitude to do so, will all of a sudden become a solid player in the NBA.

Poythress is talented for sure, but I don't think he'll ever put it together. If he couldn't get motivated to start this year, then he won't amount to much in the NBA, IMO.

I love Randle. Love his intensity and his drive. My only concern if we picked him up is the spacing on the floor. It's already congested with Fav and Kanter. Unless you bring Kanter off the bench and start Randle at the 4. Does the 3 of them on the floor at the same time concern anyone else?
