Following potential 2014 draftees

There is more background/life story info on Exum than any other prospect.

I didn't say Exum. I said international. There's Capela, Nurkic, Micic, Saric. I bet all of them have a couple stories to share plus a highlight video.
Maybe even Hezonja if he decides to stay for 3 more years and sign once his rookie scale doesn't limit him any longer.

Arent we still waiting to hear from jabari?

Don't know if troll. In case you missed it:
He first hand no backchannel no spoiler leak comfirmed that he enters the NBA draft. Said some other (pseudo) emotional things about money, religion, longetivity of athletes and living the dream as well.

I totally missed it.

thats awesome!

yup, thought about this last night... its happening

Jabari Parker 3rd

Jerami Grant 23rd

Deonte Burton 35th

I've been warming up to the idea of Jerami Grant at 23.. hes an electric athlete to find outside of the lottery, 7'2½" wingspan, 41" vertical with some nice agility, while he isnt particularly skilled hes shown tremendous improvement since last year. With some work on his Jumper and Ball-Handling, and a smooth transition from Zone Defense to man, he could end up being a major steal (sorta reminds me of a SF version of Jeremy Evans, with more potential defensively)

There are better choices. The last thing the Jazz need is another SF who can't shoot from outside.

the jazz dont really have any SF's under contract for next year though, so unless you feel that all the SF's on the team have to be able to shoot im not sure thats a legit concern. hes clearly a project, thats in part why i made the Jeremy Evans comparison.

I was thinking along the lines of if we had Jabari starting at PF it might be in our best interests to have an alpha athlete at SF just incase

his shooting needs lots of work and he just doesnt have much confidence at this point, often left open for 15-18 footers but he did manage to jump his FT% from .562 to .674, i dont think his shootings hopeless, it looks decent out of his hand (0:40 in the vid)

for what its worth his older brother Jerian can shoot the lights out, hopefully some of that rubs off eventually

SF can always be filled via trade or free agency.

Lindsey spoke to that in an interview. He said that even after paying Hayward a substantial contract, there is still a MAX slot left, if they were to offer a player and he accepted. I think DL has a couple of options in mind depending on how the draft goes. That may not be a SF, might be a player at another position. I can hardly wait for free agency; it will be interesting to see what rumors leak out re: trades and free agents.

I agree if we get Randle or Parker at PF could really use a lanky defender at SF. Hayward just won't cut it, we would be too bad defensively. However it probably makes more sense just to sign someone like Ariza who is a physical clone of Grant and can also hit the 3 ball. We'll have enough money for him without interfering in future plans.

"I don't want to go somewhere like the [LA] Clippers who have Chris Paul and be stuck behind him,'' he said. ''I want to go to a team which is going to want and need me, and hopefully get minutes in my first season."

is really the closest he's come to taking about places he doesn't want to be. Chad Ford has been the one warning about workout availability

Q: Could Dante Exum work as 2 alongside somebody like MCW at the next level? Chad Ford: Yes, he can play both positions. But I know he really wants to be a NBA point guard and I don't think teams that have a young point guard will get a visit from Exum for workouts. I can't see his agent, Rob Pelinka, sending him to Philly for example.

Well that only leaves LA and Orlando. Orlando will likely draft top 3 and pass on him. LA may trade their pick to Minny for Love (who have Rubio at PG). So where would that leave Exum? He could be in free fall mode if he doesn't work out for any of these teams. I don't think Ford thought that comment through but being it was a chat won't rip him too much.

a premature draft evaluation

Milwaukee - Andrew wiggins, still have serious needs at pg and center with sanders unstable. but a great 3 to build around in wiggins, greek freak, Henson. this pick was easy even though they claim they like embiid. wiggins is the best choice.

Philly - Joel embiid if the back checks out if not Parker. with embiid and Noel they have an amazing front line to build around. McW now has some great athletic targets down low. they still have no wings but embiid is the better fit.

Orlando - Dante exum thought about Parker here also but with Harris and harkless and Nelson on his way out exum is a great pick. exum and oladipo could be one of the toughest back courts in the nba in a few years. the magic will have a very solid core and could be looking at the play offs very soon.

Utah - Jabari Parker is the logical choice and I really wanted to see him picked before but I like the fits before him. Parker instantly slots in at the sf. the jazz will still need to find a good lock down defender. I think with a good work ethic and some good coaching Parker can become a serviceable defender.

Boston - Aaron Gordon thought about vonleh but they need defense and a sf. Gordon does both. Wallace might be a good mentor. big concerns with shooting how ever.

Apparently Exum and Victor Oladipo are friends and met on a recruiting trip to IU.

Ford has reported the Magic are very high on Exum hopefully its legit, I can't see any other ways Jabari would fall into the Jazz lap at 4

Decent take.

So, has the world officially declared that Jabari can't/won't play SF?

I don't think that's quite the case. He's able to play either on offense, imo... but will get slaughtered by most NBA SF's on D.

So, as is often the case, it will be a matchups thing.

That's what I thought. Because of this, I don't see how he goes earlier than 3.

I'm having a hard time remembering a tweener with more hype than Jabari.

Was Durant considered at tweener in college?
