What's new

***Official new head coach search thread*** (merged)

Hopefully the coaches want to win(in utah), and they know what teams have promising futures(utah). I think coaches have a different outlook on team locations. They could go to LA and maybe be fired a week into the season or they could come to utah and get at least a three season tryout like tyrone did. If tyrone can get 3 seasons d'antoni or messina should get five easy

I am with Fish. If we get another crappy coach, I will keep complaining until we get a good one. You don't just live with your team getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs or not making the playoffs every year. You go out and get better.

Ok we don't agree.

@WojYahooNBA: A candidate Lakers management and Kobe Bryant share a fondness: Euro legend Ettore Messina. He impressed as assistant under Mike Brown.

Fortunately, the Jazz's leading man, Jim Boylen, is not a candidate for the Laker job. Utah dodged a bullet there!

So randy Rigby was on 1280 this afternoon, he started talking about the coaching search, but I had to turn it off just after he announced Spence Checketts was a finalist for the coaching job. Did anyone hear the rest of the interview? Did he say anything worthwhile?

I did hear him say they would like to have it done before the draft but they don't need to have it done by then.
You think Rigby would ever say anything worthwhile? Ha ha ha. That's a good one.

If DL can turn on his negotiating skills and convince Messina to choose Utah over LA...I promise never ever to say a single bad thing about him as long as he's with the Jazz. Even if Messina turns out to be a dud, beating the Lakers at SOMETHING is worth it.

  • The Lakers job would be wayyyy too much pressure for Messina.
  • Plus Kobe won't be there forever.
  • Plus Jim Buss is a ****ing knuckle head.
  • Plus Lakers fans are gonna turn on him so fast he wouldn't know what hit him.

Messina wouldn't sign with the Lakers if he knows what's good for him.

Boylen sure seems to be a hot name out there for every open position. I mean, here I am on the internets and everywhere I look it's "Boylen to the Lakers", "Boylen to the Knicks", "Boylen to Minnesota". Dudes a real hot name. Here I was worried that we were the only team looking at him but it sounds like he truly is universally thought of as one of the finest coaches in the league.

Guyz, what a relief. Am I right?

In 2011, Mike Brown tried to get Jim Boylen to be his assistant, but I guess it never happened.
