Following potential 2014 draftees

Come to kearns or west valley utah and attend some church and check out the polynesians with your eye balls.

Go to samoa, tonga, or hawaii and take a gander.

Google images for polynesian and look at some of the pictures.

Then look at the fingers of these people and you'll likely see they're stained orange from eating Cheetos and Doritos. It's a running joke in the ER of my wife's hospital.
I did watch a program on why health is so bad for Islanders...it's all the processed food that has been shipped into stores, specifically those containing trans-fats and artificial sweeteners, which play havoc with the body. You know where the top-selling location is for "Spam" (the food)? Yep, the Islands. Yes, Tongans and Samoans may have a genetic pre-disposition to be bigger and store more fat than, say, Japanese people. But the American processed food that has become so readily available and affordable has contributed greatly to an epidemic of obesity in this country, particularly among the lower economic bracket, who buy cheaper canned and packaged foods vs. costlier fresh or better-quality items.

Parker may have a pre-disposition to be chunky. But it's something that can easily be managed with diet. Look at any retired athlete. Some look like they could step back in and play; some have ballooned in weight. Some players eat themselves out of the league; some get in tremendous shape. Case in point was Memo. I remember Year 1 Sloan called him out on being out of shape. IMemo came back the next year in shape. If the Jazz draft Parker, you can bet he'd be going to P3 and working out with the others.

Lmao come on dudes, do you really think that Jabari will have the same diet throughout his NBA career as a Tongan from Kearns?

No not really.

But he is currently kind of chubby imo.... if compared to gordon, smart, randle, vonleh, wiggins, embiid, i would have to say that parker is the chubbiest/least amount of muscle tone of that group.

Will it be an issue in the nba? Who knows.

Yes they may.

But it sure doesn't mean they'll automatically get fat. I know a lot of Tongans/Samoans who are big and within normal height/weight parameters. And there areseveral Japanese people who are fat. What college student eats a healthy diet? Do you think Parker will be pigging out on pizza and Top Ramen noodles when he's a pro?

Also, its not only utahn polynesians that seem to have issues with thier weight.

Anybody ever been to hawaii?

Yes, see my post. The problem is diet, exacerbated by the American introduction of processed foods.

Probably true.

Hopefully jabaris diet improves in the nba cause his college body appears to be utilizing a poor diet.

I eat out all the time, eat a horrible diet when i eat at home and i rarely workout. And im old.

I think i have a more slender and toned body than jabari did as a 18/19 year old that played basketball all the time.

I think that is something to be legitimately concerned with

Fwiw i have seen jabaris mom and she is not fat at all so thats a good sign

We will get #1 on Tuesday, so what's the point?

In reality, I would give up anybody to have that #1 pick.

I also really hope that the "Jazz love Parker and will take him at #1" is a smokescreen.

This. 1000x's this.

I would still take jabari #2 in this draft

We should withhold our opinions of whether J abari gets fat until we see whether we get him.

We draft him = physically fit perennial all star.
we don't = he busts and gets buried in a piano.

No, there is no quick fix.

I'm thinking best case scenario, after this offseason is the Jazz are still 1 piece away. hopefully they can solve that next summer with a late lottery pick, free agent or trade, but in the meantime

Shaun Livingston and Jodie Meeks are GREAT vets for the Jazz to add, Livingston could provide much needed depth and versatility, and possibly some defense. Meeks brings consistent shooting but hes also a really solid professional to add to the locker room, hopefully some of his marksmanship would rub off.

Vonleh is just really intriguing at this point, I didnt think he would measure that close to Favors, with gigantic hands and 60% 3pt shooting in Big10 play (1.6 attempts per), I think he fits well in Utah next to either Kanter or Favors, which is something I said about Vonleh before he even played a game at IU. He should get more looks at open 3's in the NBA playing next to a center and his overall activity level is underrated, hes a legitimate ball magnet, much more-so than Favors.

Cleanthony Early isn't my favorite prospect but he offers something not easy to find at 23, he seems like a match filling the need for an Athletic SF. Especially if he can shoot the NBA 3 well he'd be a steal and could emerge as a starter. one of the knocks on him is his handle in halfcourt offense but with players like Burke, Hayward and Burks the Jazz may be a nice landing spot to hide that deficiency. Im not sold on the lateral quickness of Cleanthony though, he looks fairly slow while defending penetration and I doubt the perimeter defense would be much improved with Trey-Hayward-Early.. I could be wrong though
