Interesting. Who is on the US team? I think it is this venue where we need to go back to college players playing in these. For the Olympics sure have the pros play, but for the other groups let the young guys have a shot at it.

I'm from Turkey and I do believe most non-American basketball fans in the world enjoys watching the American National Team that they usually call "the Dream Team" more than you regardless of the roster most of the time. And beating America is one of the most exciting things for the other NT's around the world. I sure highly doubt that there would be such pleasure in beating a basketball team full of unprofessional players.

I am also thinking about the potential for injury. Kanter had a rough season last year due to recovering from an injury, what happens when he aggravates the same injury in the world cup, or gets a new one?

Sure, players and pro-clubs always have their concern about the injury thing. But this had not invented last year. I know that players are at another level in the means of athleticism and pace than the past. But they also have more privileges and technology to look out for their fitness conditions. Take the NBA season. It ends in the end of June. Spain 2014 starts at the end of August. 2 months break for the NBA Finals teams and even more for less successors. If they don't play in the WC, then add another month to that gap. We're talking about athletes who live on an effort run that is the system that their bodies used to. Last time I've checked, taking a longer break than less hurts the physical hotness of the athlete's muscles. So why not consider this as an earlier start the engine opportunity? I wouldn't think of it as a necessarily injury trap event, yet I would like to think that the World Cup and Olympics are the best opportunity to measure and compare the basketball levels of the nations around the world.

I also believe that this will be a great opportunity to see Enes Kanter shooting 3's in an actual pro game. I'm sure he will have himself worked hard individually for the 3 point shot by the time the camp for the WC starts.

And if I recall correctly, the tourney is on FIBA rules and the 3 point arc is closer and the rim is lower. So it will be basic long midrangers for the Kanter guy.

But the most troubling thing in shooting a 3 for the player is usually the knowledge of shooting a 3.

Imagine if his teammate could come near him while shooting and whisper to his ear "Don't worry mate you foot is on the line."

looked it up. An Nba rim is 10 ft(120 inches) fiba is 3.05m (120.0787 inches). More or less exactly the same.

Wtf? Are you serious

Not a surprise for me that Addie had that wrong info. It's a common myth in Europe that NBA's rim is higher. Because of that, I'm actually seeing 10'4"(315 cm) street rims around a lot. When I ask why they are higher than the standard, they mock me and they say I'm an idiot because I apparently don't know that the rims are 315cm in the NBA. Lol.

@addie, there is not much difference also with the three pointer line with the NBA anymore. If I remember correctly, FIBA increased the distance two seasons ago.

By the way, agreed with addictionary on 3 pt shooting for Enes. Some Galatasaray fans here say the new head coach of the Turkish NT loves shooting big men and stretch fours. We may see Enes trying them.

As for the US vs Turkey game, whichever roster that US comes to Spain I think it will be a blowout game. Turkey will be without a decent back court again. Especially the PG play will be pathetic.

Yeah dude I screwed that one up. I looked up that 3 pt thing recently it looks like they've changed the goddamn thing multiple times throughout the decades.

As for the rim length. Big *** disappointment for me bro :(

Haha.

Then also, I shouldn't tell you that FIBA balls are bigger too.

I used to have a Molten. When I was 7, my parents bought the perfect basketball for my elder sis so that she could play with her friends. She was 4 older than me. I sneaked and screwed around in those matches. My dad used to play bb. That's why he valued it so much. But she obviously had not played too much, caring only about being popular and ****, so I took the ball and dribbled its perfect skin for many years to come. Remind you it was an indoor ball. So I literally was on a blasphemy! I remember one night practicing out on the streetball court after dinner about 8 or 9 pm, I was yet to learn the game, the moves. An older dude was practicing on the other rim. No I didn't dunk over him unfortunately. lol. I asked him kindly if he could teach me how to lay it up. And he did. Then I started rocking the game. Quit when I beat MJ.

Last sentence might be a little off the reality. But a little.

~That ball is still in my house in a locker. It is pretty much ****ed up. But still not egg shaped! That shows the quality of it. Still like day one the inner layers. But the outer layer is so screwed up, it hurts me and fills my heart with nostalgic enthusiasm at the same time whenever I pick it up.

my indoor Spalding kicks your molten's ***!
Twas a real rarity back then and was a cool thing to own a la Mercedes Benz. (Yeah)
