Following potential 2014 draftees

BBIQ and Demeanor sound to me like the reasons why Isiah Thomas took Channing Frye over Andrew Bynum, even though he thought Bynum was the better talent.

I believe Isiah said that after he got fired.

Would never in a billion years have a twitter account if I was famous and my famousness didn't depend on maintaining my famousness.

Basically, I wouldnt have a twitter account if I was a pro athlete.

I don't buy that. Wanna sell tickets and merchandise? Be good. I don't believe that if we draft Jabari suddenly everybody is wearing their Parker jerseys to church on Sunday. It's not THAT big a deal. If Wiggins was a top 5/10 player we would sell out every game and he would sell plenty of jerseys. This state is just waiting to have a superstar of their own, we would go crazy over them. Religious ties don't matter. If they take Parker it's because they like him better. (which is understandable)

I just think Wiggins is in his own tier now that Embiid is out.
Remember Jimmer-mania? Sure, part of that was that he played for the TDS. Jabari-mania would run just as high, and moreso because he'd be the best ever LDS player (sorry, Mr. Ainge). I think it IS that big a deal with Parker instead of Wiggins. Parker will be better initially. And when those older fans who don't understand analytics and player development see Lindsey passed over the Rookie of the Year, who belongs to the religion which represents half the state's population, for some other rookie who is good, but not putting up anywhere near the numbers, the torches are coming out.

I like Gordon, but why doesn't anyone compare him to Kidd-Gilchrist? Defensive specialist who is super athletic and can't shoot. Not saying it's the same player but I haven't even seen one "watch out, remember Kidd-Gilchrist?" Warning.

Gordon looks more similar to Blake Griffin than MKG. MKG is more dark skinned.

tbh, I dont remember what MKG played like, but fffffffff kinda freaking me out now Bawse.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, I'm no scout so I'm probably wrong. Bill Simmons loves Gordon. And in his article today he's talking about how he was wrong about MKG. Said something like "turns out your wing players need to be able to shoot, not just jump high and defend well." And I'm just reading it like:

Hopefully one of the smart dudes can tell me why it's different. Still want Gordon at 5!

2 things...

1. Gordon can really handle the ball and is an elite passer, ... so he can make an impact on the offensive side that way even if he is not shooting or scoring.

2. Gordon's shot seems a lot less "broke" than MKG.

this is classic overthinking.

When talking about top 5 picks these parts of intangibles are far from crucial, deal-breaking elements.

Noah Vonleh is 18... I repeat 18!!!

At what point did demeanor and BBIQ become big issues concerning 18 year olds in the draft?

This seems new to me.

Some might make the case that players with questionable demeanor and low BBIQ went #1 and #7 last year.

look at past drafts too...

How do you think Qyntel Woods went #7 overall? or Johnathan Bender 5th in 1999? were the teams bamboozled into thinking these players had passable BBIQ and demeanor? probably not. I'd say they most likely didn't care about it all that much. They projected these players into a certain role, and planned to work on the BBIQ from there, in the framework of the teams system and that made them comfortable enough to pull the trigger at those spots.

Some here are turning a blind eye to the steak and potatoes(skill-set) because they're too busy crying about the asparagus.

Id have an easier time entertaining this BBIQ and Demeanor concern as a legitimate issue worthy of passing on him, if we're talking about a Derrick Character, Lance Stephenson, Caron Butler or Javaris Crittenton.

Why didn't you choose Vonleh in your Homer List?

Elite passer? You clearly use this adjective more freely than I do.

It's hard to make plays for others in the halfcourt if you aren't a threat to score. You can be a good dribbler and passer, but if you can't score you'll never draw the extra guy. I think it's safe to assume that you aren't drafting Gordon to make plays in the halfcourt, and I don't know why anyone would have expected MKG to do so.

Well he was drafted #2 and is considered extremely disappointing/bust to most. Has he performed to the level you thought he would? And would you expect Gordon to be much better?

No idea if you are a Gordon homer or hater tbh.

You've admitted to not having watched more than 10 min. of Gordon's film.

I wasn't a big fan of MKG @ #2 at all, don't really hate him as a player though, and I don't hate Gordon either. He's going to be a dynamite defensive player, I just don't expect much offense, and see him having to play 4 on offense quite a bit initially because of his skill level, especially on the Jazz because their spacing is pathetic already.

But I don't know anything about any of these west coast guys tbh. Adams, Gordon, Lavine, etc.

But.... Like in a million years I wouldn't trade #5 for MKG. So is Gordon not worth it? You're not really convincing me that Gordon will be a better player.
