If I couldn't eat steak I'd probably leave the church.
Anyone who claims that Mo's aren't supposed to eat meat is a moron of Beanclown proportions
Or, you know, just somebody who read the Scriptures and saw what was written there, plain as day.![]()
Ya, that'd pretty much be a deal breaker.
Near as I can tell the official church position is that the meat rule doesn't count anymore because modern refrigeration has rendered the reason for the rule invalid.
I read that, too. But I sort of find it hard to imagine that refrigeration was actually the reason why that was in the Doctrine and Covenants in the first place. So retconning it out with that as the explanation doesn't ring true to me. I also read that for many years, it was stressed in the Mormon religion that animals had spirits, and that was the reason for the emphasis on not eating meat. Refrigeration would have no effect on whether or not it was bad to eat animals because they had spirits.
I've never heard that before. Not saying you're wrong, but I've just never heard that. Personally, I'm sure they do have spirits, but who cares -- they're delicious.

Frankly I think it's kind of sensible and one of the handful of real advantages to the continuing revelations principle. Now I'd be far more interested in what the church considers to be a medicinal use of tobacco under the WoW.![]()
