At the end of a possession, when running the offense gets you nothing (a lot of possessions end this way for a lot of teams), DeRozan can create a decent shot. Gordo can't. It's that simple. He proved the Raps right in giving him that contract and I don't see why Gordon couldn't do the same under different conditions.

I just posted this in another thread but I think it applies here.
All I know is that only three players in the league averaged these stats 16.2pts, 5.1rb, 5.2as. LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Gordon Hayward. Then if you add in 1.4st, 0.5blks there's only one guy in the NBA they did that Gordon Hayward. I don't care what any of you say if that was easy to do 35 or 40 guys would be doing it every year. If he goes back to his career average percentages he'll score over 20 a game. In a better system with better coaching you can expect everything else to go up as well. I don't even begin to see the selfish player you're talking about but I do agree with you that he plays soft when people poke him in the ear and he pouts way too much. If he can find his balls and man up and play with a little more excitement dude is legit.
If Hayward is back to his old % numbers, it's because he's not shooting as much and I see him getting 14-16 points a game add in 5 rebounds and 5-7 assists with 1.5 stills and solid defense. I can see him making an Allstar game or two. Hayward isn't a 20 point a game scorer. If he was he'd be a top offensive option. That he isn't, but he doesn't need to be.

Let me just say that Stockton and Malone couldn't get out of the west till Horny got there, and Hayward can be that guy. That's why it's critical to resign him. He helps put us over the top.

At 15M per?
Where in any of my posts did I say we should give him 15 million per??

What else are we going to do though? .
I didn't but your statement had a sense of absoluteness to it. Would you let him walk at 4 years, 60M?
He out plays a 8mil contract all day long. Many people just don't really understand the value of good players and how the NBA really works? The salary cap went up almost 5mil just this year. With the new TV deal the NBA estimates cap could go up to the 90-100mil range. With that 13 to 15mil you pay Hayward is nothing.
Need to keep Hayward as either a player moving forward or a tradable asset!!!
Gordo's game was more polished than DeRozan's coming into the league. Easily. DeRozan seems to compete harder than Gordo, and actually comes back after every offseason having added something to his game and ready to play from day 1.Derozan could be good. VERY good. I really like his improvement year over year.
I just don't see it. He was slow/lazy rotating and closing out on shooters this past season, and he can be beat off the bounce by quick or physical wings (can also be posted up by physical wings). On the other end, he doesn't bend the defense; he gets played straight up. His pull-up game improved toward the end of the season, but I'm not convinced it's effective enough to leverage defenses (yet?).This article explains the reason we (I) see him impacting the game, but unable to say why. In the Houston game at home last year, I was able to sit 4th row and it was clear the game changed each time G went in and out. (he was subbed directly with Harden) and it was clear that G's impact was favorable. This is the same (in concept, not magnitude) as when Stockton would sit... Howard Eisley made that problem bearable, but it was such an amazing change. Stock would have "only" 15 pts and 10 assists and the impact to the game was still significant.
He's also a company man to the end. His arguments frequently lack internal consistency, and always support the decisions management makes. Here's a useful article that compared Hayward to Parsons, Thompson, Leonard and Burks.

Interestingly, in his recent podcast, Locke said that very few in the league consider Parsons to be Hayward's equal. I know I quote Locke a lot, but he has insights and inside info that you simply can't find on this board.
