If we resign Marvin there will be no Murphy development. If Novak means we're not bringing back Marvin, then Murphy will get a bit of burn.
 
Good pick up. Right now we just need a few vet guys that can play on the bench and won't complain by how they are used. He'll be a good lockerroom guy too. Plus we only gave up Garrett and got an asset back. Win win for both teams.
 
This guy has a 2-year deal for $7 mil, that's not bad in any stretch of imagination.
 
Novak = Matt Bonner

He probably won't be an every game rotation player, but in spots where Snyder feels like we need an offensive boost or floor spacing, he could be used.
 
If we don't sign Marvin, I like this signing even more. Novak will never be a starter, means more mins for Kanter/Evans but a danger at 3pt line to stretch defence late in the game, with Gobert or Favors at C out there with him to cover his deficiency at Defence.
And we got a second round pick DL is a genius.

He's not a terrible pickup for a team that's going to lose the next two years, anyway. We need a guy who can hit threes, so there's that. But tough trade to get excited for. Expensive second round draft pick. Would have liked to get a little more.
 
Not a terribly exciting trade, but Novak is very playable and has shown he can contribute with a clearly defined role. Probably slightly overpaid, but not cripplingly so.
 
Does anyone remember Steve Novak dropping 41 points and 16 rebounds on Rudy Gay's #2 UConn team in 05-06, that game was nuts, I wish I could find highlights.

I remember the 2008 playoffs where in 21 minutes The Jazz made 21 passes to whoever Novak was guarding..

I don't know if Marvin Williams is gone or not, but I'd have to believe acquiring Novak has very little to do with it.

I get the feeling there like aren't many first rounders being floated for 3 million in salary relief.
 
Any thoughts on if this signals that the Jazz are tanking again this year?

Not that I'm pro-tanking but, is it worth tanking this season? Asking because, I don't know much about the 2015 draft class and I hope we are done with tanking.
